    ports - 12001, 12002

anybody have info on why my windows 2000 server has ports 12001 and 12002 open?

the port scanner i am using (nscan) says:

    "entextnetwk" 12001
    "entexthigh" 12002

i don't recall installing any software that makes me think I did this, but on the other hand, several of the imaged/ghosted servers from this build have it, so i must have done it , i am just not sure what i installed that is using these ports

    thanks

Do you have ImageCast Control Center or GossipServer installed?

we use powerquest imagecenter, maybe that has something to do with it

we don't run the imagecast powercast server or anything, but i did install the imageexplorer and vf editor and boot disk builder, which requires the basic parts of imagecenter to be instaled. i didn't know that installed control center or part of it, but that sounds like the right track!

    hmmm.. never thought of that

that is a good lead magnav0x, do you use imagecenter? how did that port # clue you to imagecenter?

    thank you

we use cisco VPN , but not on the servers, i ran the same port scan on a non-server/XP box in the same LAN and those ports aren't open, so i think it is powerquest, even though i did a search on the powerquest site and they fail to mention that product using those ports, or at least i couldn't find it in their knowledge base
