Thread: Next Gauntlet Proj

    Next Gauntlet Proj

After the D2OL Gauntlet ends, let's start a SETI@Home Gauntlet. When does the current one end?

  2. #2
I think there are 3 requests for other gauntlet projects ahead of you.

Life Mapper was first, then TSC, I can't remember what the other was right now (senior moment)

As for D2OL Gauntlet - IronBits said it best "5th place or die!"

It should be somewhere around June 16 or 17 (if we can keep this rate) - 12:01am on 18th would be a month

I know some are leaving early for other projects (we'll be happy to stomp them)

I'll try to remind my son to find his password for Seti so he can join the team there. I think he (we) had just over 5,000 points

Does anyone know what the next set of gauntlets is?

I'm working on a little something to let people create gauntlets and what-not via a web interface easily, so that everything can be scheduled nicely.

I've got 5 projects currently setup for data gathering, and I'm working on more as I go.

Hey, if we are lucky, S@H 1 will end by the time we are finished. They have all of the users imported into the S@H II system. A few people have switched over already on a few teams. I'll find the link if I can....

It was great to see TA with 0 workunits completed

    Yup,

I think the consensus was on LM then I think TSC.

No formal date, but I'd also like to propose 17th as a start as I have to fly to Connecticut the morning of the 17th so can't do any changes for the next few days after that..

For the purpose of testing the gauntlet application that I've written, please visit

    http://www.dp.cx/gauntlet/index.php

and sign up for the gauntlet. It's pretty simple to do. First, click on the "Sign-up" link. Next, select the gauntlet (currently only one) from the list that you'd like to participate in. Then, select the Team that you'd like to join. If anyone would like additional teams, please let me know, and I'll set them up. After that, select your LifeMapper team (for most/all of us, this will be Free-DC). Lastly, select your username from the list, and type in the name that you'd like to see displayed in the gauntlet stats.

Note that this is the honor system, so don't sign up someone for the gauntlet if it's not you.

Also, the gauntlets are linked on the front page so that you can keep track of the information. If anyone would like to see anything changed on the display page, let me know, and I'll see what I can do.

My thoughts for this app are that we can use this to schedule and sign up for future gauntlets, that way we don't have to remember to sign up for them later

Also, currently, only I can change a users team affiliation, so if you select the wrong team, let me know and I'll get it switched over.

    How about..........

We should have a gauntlet that is not a DC project, but is to see how many Free DCers we can get on the forum at the same time. We should aim for at least 100, as the most -61- is pretty rubbish. So someone needs to set up a date and time. If you can't joinin in person the leave you browser logged in, of course it would be open to all.
I say 61 is crap,,,,, onward to at least 100.

and having major pharmage would not help.

    I thank you

Would anyone be opposed to an MD5CRK gauntlet after all the current gauntlets have ended? The Ars team is handing it to us, and there are a couple other teams just itching to beat our butts...

    Anyone?

Well, to keep some semblance of organization
If I remember, TSC was going to be next...
If the majority want to gauntlet MD5CRK then TSC after, that's ok to

I'll come to the MD5CRK gauntlet, whenever it starts,
with at least two AMD64 rigs running windows XP 64bit edition

    That would be interesting!

But the most wouldn't call it a "gauntlet", they'd call it "flash mob"...

    And yes, 61 isn't a pretty number

Whoops... Didn't know about the TSC gauntlet... Anyone want to give me a time-frame for it? I'll get it setup asap if that's the case.

I tentatively had the 17th which no one seemed to object to, but the main goal of the D2OL gauntlet seemed to be to pass TeamStorageReview which we should do today anyway

Go ahead and move some over, I'll do the same before I leave for vacation. But I'll set the gauntlet itself to start next thursday unless there are objections.

We need to start a participation thread for it I guess.

I was just curious if there was any talk of what and when the next gauntlet would start. Just my 2 cents but I'd put my vote in for:

    1. UD
    2. Chessbrain
    3. FAD

    My thoughts are this :

We first of all need to vote on it. I can do that later, but I think we should actually run two projects together for those who cannot run the first. Like a secondary one, I've been thinking about it for a while, but haven't worked out how we'd score it yet..

For example, UD is windows only. it would seriously hamper linux users, the opposite was the case for Eon.

Also we should probably not include projects we've already done gauntlets on.

Once decided all users should sign up on DP's site too.

Oh, and we should definitely have distinct non-geographical teams...

OK so we have the teams

    Borg and 8472, why not.

    So what's the project?

I'll have a decent Internet conn soon so no project will be beyond my compass.

So lets get suggestions and then put up a voting thread.

The Cows look cowed so we can afford to spread some GHZ elsewhere.

    My suggestion is FAD.

FaD would LOVE to have you guys, we only have about 6,000 active members(I think) and the general consensus is that we're beating the crud out of grid.org's accomplishments(or lack thereof).

Sometime in the next couple months we're planning on dealing with neurodegenerative(nerve damaging) disorders by studying something called CJD(don't know the long name) which is supposed to be very similar to mad cow disease.

    So come join us.

And when the new cancer and AIDS medications that we "discovered" come out, you can honestly say that you helped. Heck, maybe your computer will be the one of the ones that finds a golden "mollie"(nickname for molecule)

Forget,"Hack the world!!!" Let's,"Crunch the world!!!"
