o ok, thanks. Yup im on the team. One last question. Yesterday when i started them they seemed to be working together though. I turned the desktop off and kept the laptop runningat night. So now their off. Different clients? or get messed up cause one was turned off?
-
R.I.P
no, they won't mess each other up. each machine does its own work unit.

Oh, wow...I didn't know you guys kept track of this stuff. I put my boxen in

I like the jargon file for this kind of stuff;
box: n.
A computer; esp. in the construction foo box where foo is some functional qualifier, like graphics, or the name of an OS (thus, Unix box, Windows box, etc.) “We preprocess the data on Unix boxes before handing it up to the mainframe.”
boxen: /bok´sn/, pl.n.
[very common; by analogy with VAXen] Fanciful plural of box often encountered in the phrase ‘Unix boxen’, used to describe commodity Unix hardware. The connotation is that any two Unix boxen are interchangeable.
See http://www.catb.org/~esr/jargon/ for hours of happy reading. The paper version, which is easier to read, may be available through your local public library.
ESR's definition of 'boxen' is a bit conservative. It used to mean what he said, and still does some places. Now it is more often used, especially around here, as a fun way of saying "computers", as GHOST said.

ok then why is there a spot called boxen and a spot called CPU's???
-
has been eaten by a grue.
Because you can have multiple CPUs in one box.
<pedant>CPU, or Central Processing Unit, is properly the brain chip of the computer, not the entire plastic (usually) housing that the motherboard, video card, hard drives, etc. are in. It is not uncommon, though, for people to refer to the entire box as the 'CPU'. I am not sure where this usage comes from. </pedant>
Sorry, I'm re-reading some of my favourite parts of the Jargon File, plus I'm a librarian, and tend to overdo answers anyway.

And here I thought boxen was from 'oxen'.
-
has been eaten by a grue.
Actually, Tamari, oxen and boxen come from the same source. Both are Anglo-Saxon (or Old English) plurals.
