Testing for smaller Riesel numbers is almost the same as we are doing now, only for different numbers.
To prove a number is not a Brier number, you either prove it is not a Riesel number or you prove it is not a Sierpinski number. We have a mechanism for proving things are not Sierpinski numbers, and you agree it would be similar to create a mechanism for proving numbers are not Riesel numbers. From those two mechanisms, it's simple to create a mechanism that throws out candidates that flunk one of the tests.
