Chinasaur, how in the world did you get that many OGR25 packets sent out ot you? I had 1 OGR25 recieved all day! arg!
btw, what do we gotta do to get OGR24 on the front page stats bar

I assume he buffers, like me. I have a local pproxy that distributes work between my two machines, and it has 50 stubs buffered at all times. There is no way I can ever crunch that many in one day, so when dnet start forking out the 24 mark stubs, I don't usually get any (unless it lasts more than a couple of days).Quote:

Not sure why you guys seem to think 24 mark stubs are a bad thing - that damn project needs finishing once and for all
:rotfl:
I wondered where all my OGR-25 output had gone, I thought the machines must have crashed..
Looking at the stats looks like most of them have been switching over to OGR-24...
It would be really nice to finish OGR-24...
And during yesterday I lost a linux install (thankfully not the /home dir), lost my net connection for 6 hours and lost my marbles...no wait..tha was years ago.. :jester:  I'm not caching anymore than default...
All I can say is ... I don't know??? OGR 24 is good in one respect..they are much faster than 25's :p
Just a quickannouncement here:
IronBits, gotcha again! :pCode:
9 Supp[FreeDC] 17753
10 IronBits 18460
And good work people...Top100 (OGR-24&25) isn't far. :)
Ah good idea! Get the beast all riled up until he puts everything on OGR ;)Quote:

<taunt>Hey IB, I can almost make you out in the (not so) distance with my telescope. Zero production won't help the situation</taunt> :D
Good job Supp, don't let up! :p
Alpha, if I put everything I have on OGR, the project would be over  ;) and Phil would have a coranary :jester:
Good work guys, keep up the pressure!
In case you were too busy kicking butt here...
We are the #1 Team in DFbeta. (to be released soon)
I am holding down the #1 spot for individuals.
We have 5 or 6 in the Top Ten best RMS :D
and... I'm trying to keep Paratima, Dyyryath and Condor honest in DF :D
IB, congrats on being the Top Dog in DFBeta.
As much as we miss you here in OGR, its a Free DC team. So crunch what and when you want as long as you have fun!
So keep it up dude!
 :scared: Oh my god! :scared:
My d.net-clients crunched only OGR-24-workunits today... no OGR-25-workunit since more than 27 hours!
What about the other crunchers? Are you crunching only OGR-24-workunits too? Would be interesting...
Just keep crunching. ;) :D
Yes mk, I got just one 25 packet yesterday, not sure what I got today, I'll find out when dnet updates stats.
OGR-24
We're #224 .. up 106 positions :) :jester:
Great production on the OGR25 side PY22 :) what is that? 20T yesterday?!
Not too sure how I got so much OGR0-25 nodes!
Must be a machine that I have overlooked somewhere but hey, I am not complaining right!
I will go check on my work machines when I get back to work on Monday!
Way to go everybody! We are Rollin on 24 and 25.
Wow! A huge jump of 106 positions (on OGR-24)! I've never seen a huge jump like this since, ... hmm ... , ... let me think ... , I've never seen something like that before!Quote:

I've asked myself where we got all that iron to flush so many nodes like yesterday on both projects, but PY222 gave us the answer. 41 TNodes on OGR-25 (and the half amount came from PY222), and 28 TNodes on OGR-24. That would be about 69 TNodes on both projects together. Wow! But maybe only because of an offline client of PY222... It would be nice to get such results everyday
Way to go! Crunch on! Top100 we're coming!
Free-DC DNET RC5-72 114
Free-DC DNET OGR-25 428
Almost got top 100 in all projects! :D
Hurry up before the new DF starts! :scared:
 :|party|:
Go Team Free-DC :D
We are now at #137 .. up 87
Not bad
Not quite true, but good enough ;)

What do ya say? Tomorrow....probably Tuesday we'll hit top 100 in OGR-24. Sure hope we can get crunching on OGR-25 packets again soon.
What happened to Beyond?
27 hours since his last upload in OGR...
I think we just might :thumbs:Quote:

The keyspace server has been sending me only OGR -24 packets for the past day or so.
Well, so if we can't get to Top 100 in OGR-25, we will do it in OGR-24.
So everybody, ROLL ON
Could not get enough stubs from the team proxy (averaging 1500 OGR-24 stubs/day) so switiched back to the main keyservers. Got 12k cached now. :)Quote:

[13:18] <stibnite> IronBits: he can switch back (Beyond)
[13:18] <stibnite> the problem was that i switched the user that the proxy ran as
[13:18] <stibnite> but i neglected to change the ownership of the cache buffers
[13:18] <stibnite> so the proxy was only serving up what it had in memory
:notworthy
To Beyond:
Sorry for the headache; IronBits summarized my summary of the problem. :)
To Everybody else:
I've addressed both the stats issue (parse error on logfiles from a different version of proxyper) AND the proxy issue (aforementioned permissions problem).
Initially, I've assigned min/max values of 10000/200000 for the ogr proxy. I hope that this will prove sufficient. The machine on which the proxy is hosted should prove highly available, and if it doesn't, I expect to be beaten.
Enjoy, and sorry for the downtime.
My name's Virginia; I have proof.
Welcome Virginia/stibnite!
Thanks for hosting the pproxy for the Team! Maybe I should think about getting myself a proxy as well because I have been having trouble find OGR-25 workunits.
Oh well, Roll On people
1st, Thanks stibnite, will switich back asap or sooner :D ( though I now have a big cache, I'll flush them through your proxy). The bigger the buffers the better chance we have of climbing in the stats near the end of the OGR-24 run.
2nd, PY 222
As long as they are releasing only OGR-24 stubs there will not be any OGR-25 stubs. owever those with a big cache will still be running them until they exhaust thier cache.
3rd, been down most of yesterday and today trying to correct some network problems, but cranking back up now.
Wohoo got a OGR 25 stub :p
One thing I am playing with today is setting up a small proxy for my boxes at work, and piping it to stibnite's proxy instead of the dnet keyservers. The results still end up in the stats, but I have one box hitting stibnite's proxy every 30-40 minutes, instead of 6 boxes hitting every 5-10 minutes. Got to have a small input buffer to start with tho, or you'll draw stibnite's proxy down in one shot :DQuote:
Maybe I should think about getting myself a proxy as well
Hmmm...where did you find it, discarded in a dark corner of the room? :DQuote:

currently, my uplink is us.v29.distributed.net, but it seems like a slooow fill. My linespeed is absolutely, positively NOT a bottleneck... So is this normal? Is there a faster upstream queue for me to use?
That is normal for OGR, also remember we are pulling from your proxy at the same time so will take quite sometime to fill.
I dunno; I ran a proxy on a miniscule pipe 18months ago that filled faster than this.... Of course, it only had 35Ghz behind it, i suppose....
Another question: Given what I've read in the forums about OGR-24 being the only blocks handed out at the moment, should i keep my queue from becoming TOO deep in these blocks, in order prevent a backlog of OGR-24-only blocks after they start giving out 25's again?
Am I obsessing too much?

Of course not. You can never be too obsessed with a Distributed Computing project. Addicted maybe, but never obsessed.Quote:

Sigh.
I believe the problem with filling the queue is that us.v29.distributed.net is a "round robin" proxy net work and they still have thier own buffers set to a relatively low number of stubs, being use to OGR-25 stubs taking longer to proocess therefore fewer needed. As you and many others are trying to pull increasing numbers of stubs they are having to pull more from the "main" keyserver. Once you fill the queue then all should settle down. I know it took me about 24hrs to finally get to the 12000 I set my proxy too.
As too the number needed (buffers) that is really up to you, The more the merrier I say, why? This should be the last run on OGR-24 (the verification run) so whereever we end up in the stats it will be set in stone (supposedly). We know from the pervious run that OGR-24 has a small "keyspace" if you will, therefore the more we have cached when they quit sending them out could make a big difference where we end up in the stats. :)
OGR-25 will continue for some time as the 1st run/pass has yet to be completed, alot of time to climb the ranks.
/edit/ One more point though, if we see that they start handing out OGR-25 stubs again, we will need to back off the number the buffers are set too, would not want to get caught with that many OGR-25 stubs. /edit/
As of this morning I'm getting 25's
beginning at 9:53AM, I'm receiving these almost exclusively
2003-04-15 09:53:27,server: Received ogr stub 25/3-6-7-25-20-1
2003-04-15 09:53:27,server: Received ogr stub 25/3-6-7-25-20-2
2003-04-15 09:53:27,server: Received ogr stub 25/3-6-7-25-20-8
2003-04-15 09:53:27,server: Received ogr stub 25/3-6-7-25-21-1
Cut my maxcache value and wait for more 24's?

I'll crunch whatever your proxy throws my way, because it says my "mother was a snowblower!" :jester:

never mind...I guess that's the dnet keyserver :(
hehe, my proxy says
WANG!
So I've set the proxy to hold off on new block downloads, and serve out what its got for now.

Despite my bitching, it does seem to fill pretty quick, So when I open the upstream floodgates again, we should be all good in this here hood
I would cut it back if you are getting OGR-25's exclusively, they take much longer to crunch. Thanks for grabbing as many 24's as you did, should prove worth the time and effort in the stats.
Glad to see you are up to your usual productiont here Beyond
OGR-24 Overall Rank: 83 (up 9) Yesterday: 8 (up 13)
OGR-25 Overall Rank: 421 (same) Yesterday: 52 (up 72)
Great job team
Still only handing out 25's today. :(

25's or not..we made it into the Top 100 ... That counts for a lot :)
/me proud to be crunching with Free-DC

Do you have an overview of how many OGR-24-workunits we'll get from your server?Quote:

And: Thanks stibnite that you are running the proxy with its stats!
Yeah! Handling out OGR-25's! That means that we continue climbing up the OGR-25-ladder! But we can't climb up at OGR-24... Top 20 would have been nice :D
