IronBits, have you updated any of your PS3's to the 2.10 System Software level? I've done it on two units, and as soon as I try to reboot the whole thing turns into a brick. No video, no USB, no nothing.
Really? I haven't touched my oldest units from the original batch.
These last two I just took out of the box, received the PS3 updates via network, just like I did the others, and prior to sticking YDL on them.
I do the Sony update, then format it giving 10gb to other OS, stick YDL DVD in drive and tell it to install other OS, then make the Other OS the default, then it reboots and away I go.
I haven't had a problem yet. Perhaps the order in which it's done?
I won't know about performance for another couple of days of full runs to compare them to the other units.
I don't plan on letting Sony touch the older ones, so thanks for the heads up and sorry to hear about your troubles. :(
I've been still using the v1.5 CELL-Linux-CL_20071023-ADDON, and it seems like that may be the problem. From the CHANGES-e.txt that comes with v1.5.1 CELL-Linux-CL_20071220-ADDON.
v1.5.1 (2007/12/20 version)
Linux Kernel 2.6.23
o Following problems are fixed
- As of PS3 firmware version 2.10, the GPU command buffer size must be at least 2
MiB large. Then we can not see the video output on the display.
I was so disgusted when everything immediately went black with this replacement unit that I just turned everything off and put it back in the box. I'm *hoping* that I'll be able to get it to boot back to SonyOS so I can re-install the new otheros. At least I was smart enough this time to immediately pull the 40gb drive so if it does ever have to go back I won't lose the install.
Dang shame you're having all those problems. If it turns on, you should be able to get to it via SSH and hopefully fix the Addon software issue ;)
Once I have the default YDL linux installed, I shut it down and move it to the 'rack', never to have anything but a power cord and nic cable. :)
All fixed! I was able to get back to SonyOS so I could re-install the updated otheros.bld, it's in the middle of the install now (I'm using Fedora just because that's the only distro I didn't already use on something).
Excellent! And on that note, guess I'll just add another one to the pharm. :D
Ya So Did I But I am Not sure I did it right
IB I copied the dnetc.INI from the client running on the Free DC server here to a old client running on a PC called DELL
Would that work to start up clients to feed off the Free DC server here
The IP is still the same as it was before if you want to Look or add more:cheers:
Again Thanks for all your help You Da MAN:thumbs:
Roger that. That is all you need to do.
I'm there now if'n you wanna watch :D
call me, we need to fix a few things before I can begin with mass updates. :)
24 actives.
1.3 million average
:stomp: target now down to 7 days
It's down to just over 4 days, woohoo!
And Team Warped is down to three months too :Pokes:
Powering on :)
Noticed that we did 1,791,250 Gnodes on the last update :rock::bouncy::|party|:
I'm getting closer #16.
yoyo
Well, yes, but to be fair I don't believe yoyo@home should be a team at dnet. By all means the user is good and fair, but why bother putting the user into a team at all, when there will never be more than the single user anyway ??
Bok
p.s. great job on the wrapper though!! :)
Well, I would rather say the yoyo-thingy is a team and no user, because that's what it is - a team of users, and not a single user.
But actually, I don't really care about one single team (apart of Free-DC, of course )
Ouch, quite a few of the big guns have just trampled me, leaving me way down in the mid-section. Some of you have incredible production rates.
Well, I'll be sticking with it until the end, so hopefully I can take a few of those places back from non-producers, unless they wake up any time soon.
Nice to see that the gap to TA is disappearing fast. :D
10,000,000
Nice job big guy
And well done maefly for 100,000,000 Gnodes!:clap:
Thanks for noticing. :)
Go maefly Go!
Nice number!
Bok :thumbs::banana:
'grats IronBits and maefly!
now let's pass AnandTech
Tomorrow is the day!
Virtual fridge is ready for the passing party. :D
:fridge:
 Go Team Go
yeah, lets do it! :D
What could we get if I went to Full Burn besides a singed Butt:fireboun:
Onwards and upwards
Lauren we need you on this.
5th place is some way off and our friends over at ARS are gathering momentum.
are we looking at this to the finish?
If, so how far off is the project finish? I thought it weas close even if we hit the accelerator we wouldn't get Team Warped before mid-April. That's assuming they don't put up a :fight:
OK I will tag 1st place in cosmo in a few days and then I Will go to full burn in ORG:hifi:
:Pokes:If we Can get a good commitment :Pokes:I am sure we can gain ground FAST
After I get to 2 mil in ABC@Home and 1p in SOB, I'll switch everything over to OGR to the end.
some Reisel BOINC WUs to finish and NQueens to flush, once its back up. Then I'll switch it all to OGR too.
It LQQKs like we could take :Pokes:
 4th Place Quick
3rd is a jump off and I am sure they will Bolt
as we close
When will this shut down
Lauren
We are actualy in 6th place at the moment not 5th, so 4th is a way off.
Might not be time to catch them.

Bok
It seems that the amiga team is missing from your stats..
Anyone have a guess as to when this project will come to an end?
I thought it was like 6 months to go or something before it's finished...
:beep:
My current estimation - based on data gathered since May 2007 - is somewhere mid-August 2008. The-MK uses the same algorithms as I do but has a different starting point of his data so he usually predicts one or two months later.
In fact one cannot really predict the end date with confidence. While the project's speed is quite constant at around 300 Gnodes/sec, the "percentage completed" is not. This is due to the old "one does not know how many nodes there are in a stub"-Problem. And stubs is what counts for the "percentage completed"-value.
They are, but they choose not to show members on the official stats so I can't add them...or at least a password is required.. http://stats.distributed.net/team/tm...id=25&team=200
:(
That explains it then.
Bet there not crunching on the Amigas any more. :)
2.3 times the output DPC had yesterday is our overall GNodes :Pokes:
but: take a look at "[DPC] NoizyCows" who flushed about 60% of the amount he ever produced!! seems to be he is a rarely dumper since the last few dumps, but then hard! :dump: :dump: :dump:
Ill go ahead and put my one computer on here until the project finishes...I guess every little bit helps.
to get a wriggle on if we are going to get a place or 2 with DPC having a run to the finish.
We need to hit 1.7 or more daily to realise our target.
So :whip: them puppies.
Also who else is up for a run to the finish?
Moved over a big chunk of my boxen today to help out.
deployed in OGR.
I think with Lauren, IB, Highvoltz and Maefly doing 200+ per day. PCZ and Bok adding another 200 between them. That's 1 million, it's up to the rest of us to find the 700, 000. Perv boy is up and down, Condor does 60 ish, I can do 50 ish.
Meep has a PS3 on it and I think The MK has too.
So can we swing 1.7 per day?
