Blabbermouth!
I see Darkness Productions Is trying real hard to steel my Blabbermouth :jabber:seat
Only 66 more posts:jabber: and I HIT 3,000 :woot: :woot:
We decided to ban you for a decade until I reach you, so post here your last words...:rotfl:
Bring it!!
I don't know which is worse.....
the thought of this blabbermouth :jabber: contest or measuring the amount of bandwidth and resources you utilize.....
SHeesh!!! A guy can't get any rest around here!! :lmao:
PS: How does one 'fix' an AGP socket... yes, AGP..... i have nice little short stripped lines on one pc's display, in a PERFECT bit addressing pattern problem.... How about you 'blabb..... err 'discuss' that one???
:)
It's my desktop unit.
Granted the ATI 9800 XT (256 MB) , AGP 1,4,8 is nice to have, but it's the darn socket and quite possibly a cooked graphics address decoder chip, but i really do suspect the socket as everything else is fine.. so... WHERE am i going to find a new '2 region / 1 divider' AGP socket??? I have a funny feeling I am going to have to give up my P4-B (which has, until now, been absolutely indestructable) and the P4 itself is just fine... just the Mobo/Graphics card interface is mucked up..... All of this because the 'locking tab' finally gave away due to heat stress. There is no end-cap locking collar on the board's socket.... look up the Intel 845PEBT2 motherboard and you will understand.
What is wild about this 'addressing' issue is that with it like it is, the machine is FAST as hell! Regardless of whether I select 32,64,128 or 256MB AGP size in BIOS, my trusted 'blue' Intel screen has perfect orange rectangles on it during boot... But, text mode is perfect (640x480 console), and 32 bit mode color is nearly perfect (can only catch a flaw every now & then).
I am searching for my trusty STB 128 MB PCI graphics card to use as a sub until I get through this major hardware effort with the other boxen. This machine is the one I use for general internet, mirc, Free-DC, and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, email and cross-processor verification of my algorithms.
I know when all is done, it's going to be time to 'retire' this little babe, but i still want it in working order... it all happened today without warning. The question is: Given I need an 'Intel or two'..... which are the fastest multi-core Intels that I can get? The Xeons? which? I am unfortunately not Intel literate.
If I had my preference, this is where I would just opt in for a Tezro 350 and an Onyx 350 (or current models) and be done with it. That would be 8 cpus, cray-linked together that would clean everyone's clock.
If you arent' sure what that is... check the product line from SGI and look at the Onyx 350. The standard config was quad-cpu... not quad-core... actual true, SMP, quad-cpu in a 'surface mount' plug-in package (SM-bus style) that allowed up to 8 cpus at the time. Now, if I were into graphics, which I've little need of this degree, here's a look at my work machines (The Onyx 3000) http://www.sgi.com/pdfs/3468.pdf some of which have the 'Reality' engine but most do not. I think all I would need is a standard 2U size 32 cpu, Onyx 350 machine less the high-end graphics (which is where the real $$$ go).
My question is this: Given it's Irix (aka Linux), and native 64 bit, can it be used here on FDC? I love my AMD's, but I also miss my Onyx/Tezro pair (The Tezro was the graphic-less Onyx expansion box which cray-linked into the back of the Onyx).
Oh, now, a real practical question.... immediately to the left of my mouse cursor is a THICK BLACK LINE... (which is the 'cursor' when I am in a text window).... it changes back to the regulation / standard 'Microsoft arrow' when in a graphical area. HOW THE HECK DO I FIX THAT????? I've never seen it before!!!!
AND, what mode do I run in????? Text mode? reduced size mem map in BIOS, reduced color??? no clue here... first time I have EVER seen this kind of failure.... the only other failure of graphics cards I have seen are true 'bit failures' within the graphics dram and/or the D->A raster output module.
With thanks
C.
Please see attached image... I think it's viewable.
It's a bit 'smugged' as moving it around makes it worse due to the hardware acceleration.
I have seen something like that and it turned out to be a bad Vid cable leading to my KVM
Will a new vid card work in it if so send the old back to have work done on it
Interesting...
the KVM DID lock-up for a bit...until the power was removed... but is now ok.... so perhaps switch to the DVI output and use that side to feed the KVM instead of the analog side ?
Wow 13th and my posting count is way down proabably time to blabber some more mayb I don't know we need a stupid thread again like the wish or the "^^ above you is this" post yeah the one that runs to 10+ pages ;):slap:
Darkness Productions is :jabber: his mouth off
I guess he want the :jabber: crown Bad:jester:
Moogie is down, next PY 222 :banana:
Yeah, Yeah Carlos so you can blab for Portugal, that and moogie don't really post here much, I do know if she did you'd be dead in the water..
OH A Fight :fight: Just remember no lower case cheap shots :lmao:
Carlos, that don't work I have translation software okay it's not 100% but it gets me close enough... it's having a little trouble with that sentence but i got the jist of it.
"I always can write in my language materna and vocês is to see ships!" what it says - I know it's wrong but :lmao:
Like I actually CARE!
*yawn* I careth not who's blabbed the most, but who's provided the most useful commentary..
Sorry, hadn't read this. Do you want posts just in 2007 ? If so it goes like this...

I think DP is going to take the Blabbermouth crown this year. He :jabber: his A$$ off all year long
Whatever is happening here, I want to be a part of it..
So there!
:Pokes:Bok did you lose your Post counting script:jabber:
I did as it happens..
Looking around though, there is a mod to show top posters overall/this month. I'll see about installing it..
ok, if you go to the 'Quick Links' you'll see a 'Top Posters' link... :)
Hmmm, guess we should create a new user account called BoincNews and use that for all news postings eh?
