HTML question
anyone tell me why this line would fail the validator at w3 ?
<TD class='thread-table2' width='8%'><a href=http://stats.free-dc.org/new/projpage.php?proj=sob>17orBust</a></TD>
# Error Line 71 column 108: end tag for element "A" which is not open.
...new/projpage.php?proj=sob>17orBust</a></TD>
The Validator found an end tag for the above element, but that element is not currently open. This is often caused by a leftover end tag from an element that was removed during editing, or by an implicitly closed element (if you have an error related to an element being used where it is not allowed, this is almost certainly the case). In the latter case this error will disappear as soon as you fix the original problem.
If this error occured in a script section of your document, you should probably read this FAQ entry.

Because there is a previous <a href= that was not closed. When looking at the source, briefly, I found the following line just above...
Code:
<td width=40%><a href=http://stats.free-dc.org/new/teamstats.php?proj=sob&team=GaY>GaY
</td>
As you can see, it does not have a '</a>' after it, or any others above that entry in that table.

hmmm,
I don't see any previous open A in the source..
I'm validating http://stats.free-dc.org/users/users_dev.php?name=Bok btw
Thanks IB!

It has to do with the validator removing the quotes from your links... You'll notice that it shows your src as <a href=http://blahblahblahblah>Blah</a>. Without the quotes, it's invalid, with them, it's valid. The validator is removing them for some reason.

aha,
you got it.
Though it didn't remove the quotes....
I didn't have quotes around the link in my source..
That fixed those errors, man its a PIA making HTML compliant :swear: :p

Heh..it's not so bad once you get the hang of it. :) Think of it as a jigsaw puzzle. :)
-
yeah,
I've got this
compliant now. Learnt quite a bit along the way, which I should have a long time ago. Fixed up a lot of it too..
Now I still have 15 or so more pages to fix too.... I'll get there :)

I saved the file, and uploaded, and it had quotes in it... when I did a view source, it had quotes... strangeness.
