As far as I get it, you mean the Microsoft VM with JVM and the Sun version with JRE, right?
Well, I wouldn't use Microsoft's VM anyway and stick with the JRE (JDK is not needed for most people)....

P4 power in sieving mostly relies on a fast FSB.
Using FSB800, I get 2*275 = 550kp/s on a P4 running at 3 GHz w/ Hyper-Threading enabled.

That's because the Celeron is a Pentium4 type CPU, which often is inferior when it comes to number-crunching. Even the real P4 has difficulties to keep up - unless you're using a 800 MHz bus.

You might want to try out HTTPort. It basically does exactly this.
On the other end, you can use HTTHost or connect to one of the servers already set up on some computers.
