Yes. Using the server option I can see the generations increment. I counted 13 generations per minute on an Athlon 2700+ and java 1.4.2.

Whoops, I may have misunderstood your question ... I was assuming that your main box was Windows. What is your main box, and how do you normally launch the program on the linux box?

Other than running an xserver on the windows box (or perhaps using vpn), I don't know how.
