Just an idea... have you tried using Ken_g6's proxy to submit your blocks to, then sending them to the server from that? There's no real reason why it should work, unless the proxy receives blocks...

That's one interesting history :)
I really had no idea how SoB got its roots, so this is enlightening. Must have been amazing to witness the mutation of the project from a small-scale bit of code...
When were you assigned the test? The graph will only reflect the rate given in the client if you've been crunching the test 24/7 since you've got it. Looking at your screenshot, I'd guess you have,...
You're right - the main problems seem to have all been resolved.
After SETI ends, I'm sure SOB will see a large boost in membership.
Are you using the service handler? We found that a lot of people using the service install with the +k flag set experienced the first problem, myself included. After going back to the vanilla...
That's Coolmon with Motherboard Monitor, yup. My config is here if you'd like to use it as a base :)
Here's a shot of it in action. I really do recommend you use it if you're using more than one computer - and if you have any computers on a network without net access, well, it's a godsend ;)
Ken's right, but what that thread doesn't say is that this happens after virtually every new install of the client. For some reason, it always drops the first test after you reboot. You should be...
I think what Ken was getting at is that if you want a Macintosh client, you're going to have to do something about it yourself. The project admins have said before that it would require too much work...
We'll be enjoying it while it lasts :)
Now it's up to you to come and take it off us ;)
If I remember correctly, the stats on that page only update once a day. If you look at TPR's actual actual stats, the value is 1.00P.
All I can say is that it's happened a number of times to me, but stopped after I stopped using the service handler. If you're using the service handler, do you have the +k flag on?
A friend of...
It's a real problem. I have no idea why it hasn't been fixed yet :(
Nobody's mentioned this - the windows client has a bug where it will always abandon the first test it downloads after you install it, after you reboot. This has happened every time I install the...
Have we determined if the crashing is isolated to NT/2k/XP yet? It seems that it's definitely only SSE2 enabled cpus (ie, the p4 and opteron) that are having trouble.
Sums it up quite nicely ;)
I agree with you, at least about the fact that all of these problems started happening about the same time. I've had about 10 tests restarted in a month, compared with ZERO restarts for the two...
[2003/09/14 12:09:47.750]: Parms retrieved: NumClients = 1, AffType = 0, WUQueue = 0, PeriodicRestart = 0, AutodialType = 0
[2003/09/14 12:09:47.796]: TrueIdle = FALSE, MonitorRestart = TRUE,...
no joy.
[Sun Sep 14 02:19:48 2003] n.high = 376185 . 344 blocks left in test
[Sun Sep 14 12:09:50 2003] got k and n from cache
[Sun Sep 14 12:09:50 2003] restarting proth test from cache...
The difference, I think, is that some people are actually getting assigned a new block halfway through their test, and others are simply restarting their block without getting a new one.
Wow, well done for the quick work :)
I'll give it a try, but I won't really be able to let you know if it's solved it or not, because the problem doesn't happen with every reset...
I'm not a member of TPR, but I think that would be great, and helpful for everybody running the client. Very nice looking program, too :)
MathGuy:
I'm using the service handler with keep clients visible on... now that I think about it, the restarts probably only started after I turned on +k :(
If that is the problem, I hope it's...
Actually, now that I've had a dig through my logs, it looks like I've been doing this test for a number of days (since it was assigned on Thursday, k=4847, n=4421871), and it's restarted a LOT....
This has just happened to me twice in a row, after never happening before, so I'm guessing it's something weird at the server end, Louie. Both times the test restarted after exiting the client (not...
