It should be a little faster since nothing else is requiring CPU-cycles when you're at the logon screen, but it's probably not that much.
If you only have 128MB RAM I would advice against using...
Hi!
I just wanted to say, that when I came home tonight, both my win XP boxen had auto-updated just fine and were both crunching away on the new protein (which is FAAAST btw. On my P4 3GHz is has...
I just re-downloaded the text-client from the download-section and it seems the problem have been fixed. The foldtrajlite.exe is dated today at 10.48 and has a size of 3MB. It is also back to normal...
Ialso tried to download the whole package again from the download section - no change. Still crawling through gen 0. :-(
Edit: I have tried both with and without the -qt switch. It makes no...
I am noticing a real drop in speed in generation 0, compared to the earlier version. Earlier it just whizzed through the structures in generation 0, but now it is taking 5-10 seconds for each...
I had the same error, but I think we are somehow a little premature, because right now it once again tells me "server down for update" so perhaps we got a wrong "sneak preview" :-)
Greetings Stardragon and welcome back.
I remember your brief visits in the past.
I'm sure your return will be pleasant.

Ole
I have solved the problem in the meantime.
It seems that if you use , for decimal separator (as we do in Denmark) it gives the error. Under "Control Panel->International" I changed the decimal...
As soon as the client finished the first generation, dfgui posted the following error message:
'11.267' is not a floating point value.
It keeps in printing that error message once every 10...

On the current beta-protein (96aa) the current beta is using various amounts of memory. I'm running with the -rt switch, and I have seen memory usage as high as 136MB and as low as 36MB.
Are these...
Are you sure you are searching in the right places? There should be at least one file called dnetc.exe somewhere on your harddrive. I used to run the dnetc client myself a while back. Here are some...

Running on w2k, switches -rt. Running regular client, not as a service.
Running on an Athlon Xp 2100+ (not overclocked!)
I don't know if this is a bug, but at the end of generation 64 the client...
On my system it has been that way ever since the first version I ever installed. Through all the previous proteins and through all the betas. They all take up to 10-15% CPU on CSRSS.EXE whenever I...
dfGUI beta seems to be working fine. I have a suggestion though:
Show the average time pr. generation.

Sofar I have done about 32 generations on beta 3. The average time is about 1,5-2 hours pr. generation. On beta 2...

When I started the new beta3 for the first time, it made a few structures and then changed from "0 gen. buffered" to "1 gen. buferred". How can it buffer a...
I don't think the points are awarded as described. I just uploaded 87 generations and tried to update my stat-page multiple times during this upload. I kept getting points in rather round and neat...
On my Athlon XP 2100+ (running Windows 2000) it completed 50 generations in a little under 17 hours with an average of about 20 minutes pr. generation.
That means over 3 hours (on my machine) pr....
This is also the case with me - running the Windows version under w2k.
It writes a series of []============== for every time the "minimizing energy" or "calculating gen. x trajectory" messages...
Will the client be hardcoded to use 5000 for generation 0 and 200 for subsequent generations, or will it be possible for the user to change those values?
One might want to start out with 10000 to...
