This issue seems to have been fixed. In fact, with the latest 109-residue protein, memory usage goes down with time!
Starts as usual with 1 MB / residue, 109 MB.
After a few hours or days, it...
My client is OK now.
As Howard notes on the News page on his site, we can expect occasional STATUS 909 STRUCTURE WRITE ERROR messages because server is busy.
I too am getting STATUS 909 STRUCTURE WRITE ERROR after the protein update. I'm sure the servers are just real busy, and the client will eventually upload the work.
I, and several others, saw a leak after tens of uploads and a few hundred thousand structures.
Please run for that long to test it. I realize it runs slower in the Purify mode, so just run a...
On the protein that is now running, my system can do almost 9000 structures in the first hour. Overnight, it averages only 7600 / hour. Over the long weekend (89 hours CPU time) it averaged 7160 /...
Memory leak with the new protein in low-RAM mode:
In 8.3 hours my Win2000 box submitted 36017 structures without the -rt switch, about 8 uploads.
Task Manager: memory usage went from 25 to 27...
Echoing Halon50's results, memory leak with the new protein:
In 24 hours my Win2000 box submitted 178832 structures with the -rt switch and the new protein, about 36 uploads.
Task Manager:...

PS; I should have said that my measurements were done on a text client running as a service with the high-RAM -rt option.

On Aug 24 near 1 PM PDT I got this error 5 times on my home PC, Windows ME, Dell 833 MHz:
ERROR: [001.013] {randwalk.c, line 3878} Discriminant <0 (-0.000000) while calculating CB

The amount of memory used by the Windows text client on my Win2000 box went from 69 MB to 95 MB over the weekend (65 hours). I used Task Manager to measure it. Whenever I restart, it goes back to 69...
I saw this issue only once, about Aug. 15 02. The PC locked up and I had to power-cycle it; the DF service did not restart when I restarted the PC. I opened the Services applet, and tried to start...
PS when you are running the batch file it ignores the useram flag in service.cfg.
So if you have over 128 MB of free physical memory, then you can also append " -rt" without quotes to the list of...
There is a work-around: edit foldit.bat and append " -if" without the quotes to the line that starts with .\foldtrajlite.
-if means Internet False, i.e. offline.
The service still won't start,...
Try running offline for a while, with the -if switch.
Worked for me.

When I try to start the Windows DF service, I get:
Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly.
When I run foldit.bat manually I get a message
Server down for maintenance, try later.
So I...
