Since the fatal switch I've not been able to do any Folding. I just get ann error message from Win XP saying it has caused an error an must close. I just downloaded a new version (August 1, 2003)...

as I said before (and you quoted), #9 on the list says it has completed 171 generations on the top 10 list. If you click on the 'View Details' link for it , however, all the stats are...
Howard;
I've done a bit of elementary stats work on our top 10 results. A few things come out of this:
1) The best rmsd reported on the website in the top 10 list differs from that posted within...
I know I deleted most of the stuff, I think I may have forgotten to delete filelist.txt itself (the most important of the bunch, of course).

On one of my clients (the one with the best results of course) it lost it's connection to the net and thus now has 66 gens buffered. When it connects now I get a message saying 'Previous generation...
The beta stats seem to have been reset. Is this for the new and improved beta6?

Howard;
how long do you expect 250 gens to take, on average, for your p3-450s?
Both my machines are way faster than that (xp1800, xp1900, both quiet mode and extra ram) and after 6.5 days on...
One of my clients, an Athlon XP1900 is averaging about 4 hours per generation. By my calculations that indicates 250 gens will take over 41 days.

I hope I'm not beating a dead horse here, but...
I'm finding that some generations or conformations take MUCH longer than others. I haven't watched long enough to determine if it is every...
Looks to me like you're simply currently working on the first structure of the generation. Wait a bit and it will probably have moved on.

The point that I was trying to make is that one of my top 10 entries disappeared after a better one was added even though the original entry was still in the top 10 overall. I didn't think it should...
Howard;
question on how the list of the top 10 best structures works. It used to be only one entry per userid would ever show up, and then, I understand, you changed it to show all the best no...
Howard;
I understand that once we go live we will likely use crease energy to choose the best conformation of each gen. I was thinking it would be interesting to do this but still calculate the...
One of my clients is running MUCH slower than the other two notwithstanding it's the faster machine. This didn't used to be the case even within the betas. I don't really recall exactly, but I...
Now when I go to the page it says the following:
Your smallest RMSD structure 4.95
Overall smallest RMSD structure 4.99
The top 10 list has me on it twice, once at 5.00 and once at 5.21. ...
When I go to the high flyers page it says my best rmsd is 5.40, but in the top 10 list it has me as 5.21. I thought it might be an update delay but this has been the case pretty well all day now.

Howard;
I'm wondering how the beta algorithm works... When a client completes gen x and gets a best score of, say 7, and then completes gen x+1 and gets a best score of 7.3, which structure does...
Howard;
Do you currently use any homolgy modeling approaches to guide the sampling?
I was thinking a bit about the sampling side. There are only 20 AAs. When put together in various orders we...
It'll be the same for everyone so I don't really care. And I'm primarily interested the science end anyway...

Another request for the dfgui beta. Give me somewhere I can go and look at the best energy value for each generation. right now I can only see best so far and best this gen.
See, there is no end...
Howard;
as I've indicated before, it's primarily the science that interests me as that is what will solve the protein folding problem in the end.
Since we seem to be agreed that the intractible...
The size of the starting pool is not set by whim. It's a balance between quantity and quality that Howard's trying to maintain. Doing this type of thing would be counter-productive, IMHO.

Chris;
First, thanks for your prompt response.
Second, I hope my earlier post does not cause any volunteers to leave the project - that certainly was NOT my intent.
Yes, I agree the beta is...
No I was not aware of that and it certainly explains the sampling lean.
Yes, I agree that is a real benefit of your approach. As I mentioned earlier you may want to consider a mulit-scoing...
Howard;
I've been looking at the crease energy (which I understand is our best method of picking the best conformation) and comparing it to the rmsd. When examining these it becomes very clear...
