1.2.0 is a good client for most hardware platforms running windows. I am running 1.2.0 on an XP2100+, P4-1.7, P3-M850 and celeron, and it works fine on all of them. I have seen speed improvements...
Any plans to roll back the server (assuming it was the update that caused the problem) if a solution is not forthcomming in a reasonable timeframe, say 10 days?
I'm 100% certain it's the server not the proth sieve. Try submitting some old factors - one's that verified fine in the past. Now these don't verify.:(
Maybe it would read better as
Also, why the comment from Dave "Until then, I guess we're stuck with a flaky 120 or slow 111"?
What I was really asking is what's so flaky about 1.2.0, because it...
I too am interested as to what was wrong. I never got hold of that version.
Also, why the comment from Dave? 1.2.0 - the only problem is it crashes when you press the "stop" button? Right? So...
Thanks Mystwalker ( how long has it been like that?)
You're welcome.
Now for the n<3M ranges over 75T. With JoeO's help we have narrowed down the following ranges where we don't know whether they have (or will be) completed with the 300K < n < 20M...
Hi ceselb,
I've sent my set of n <3M p <75G to Joe O, I think he has more up to date info than me, but really I need everyone that started one of these ranges to either declare as [complete] or...
:|ot|: Little off topic for this thread, but along the same lines. What is the slowest PCs anyone out there is using for regular SoB work? (so that's not secret or supersecret, and not for sieving...
As I suspected it was due to the almost empty results.txt file. As a result of this it was unable to figure out the 90% point properly on the next run, so anything new on that run were scored as...
Hi Louie,
Sorry, been away from computers over Christmas (and it feels good ;) ). Yeah, that's working fine now.
Good question. No idea why, looks like a bug - possibly had something to do with the almost empty results.txt file, need to investigate further.
Sorry, been visiting family over Christmas. ...
Is there a problem with the creation of http://www.seventeenorbust.com/sieve/results.txt.bz2 . Currently it seems to only contain the very big factors, thus the sieve scores are all screwed up....
Exactly. They will only be listed under the 'next to enter ...' if their score will change as a result.
Hope that helps.
Here's an indication of how sieving has progressed. I thought it was worth sharing this data.
The x axis are sieve score updates (four per day), so this shows the progress since early...
The result indicates that the number was composite (i.e not prime). Best of luck with future tests. ;)
Please take a look here , this should answer most of your questions.
Just re-read one of your comments. With a PC of that spec you'll sieve 100G in about 3 days. We have now sieved so deep that...
I belive this was from the Mersenne forum , probably in the 'Lounge'.
Sieve stats have now been adjusted to reflect the finding of the prime k=5359. :D
I have gone back to the state of play on Wed 16 Dec 03 03:00, frozen all the k=5359 scores, then re-imported...
A new trimmed and clipped sob.dat file can now be found at http://www.aooq73.dsl.pipex.com/SobDat_n1M-20M.zip.
There are now 11 ks, the n range is 1M - 20M, and all the factors discovered up to...
I'm out of town for two days and I miss all the fun
Congratulations to everyone that has helped contribute to this magnificent discovery. Great Christmas present to everyone....
If you take a look on your score card I think you'll find they're already sorted.
For any factors where the user wasn't logged in, I check the sieve and P-1 reservations, and match them up that...
Since there are quite a few people running 'secret' right now. Just a reminder that 'secret' stats can be found at http://www.seventeenorbust.com/secret .
Somehow I'd missed this originally. ...
I've now changed the sieving stats so that it uses the highest of the 'Current test window'-> 'max n' on this page instead of using next.txt.
Lets hope this stops those crazy jumps ;)
