One of the two instances fails to start (services) and the following error is logged.

It never was fixed. I just gave up complaining. Glad to see that others have raised it again.

W2K machine:

NT 4.0 machine

Problem still exists with latest protein update. I had to manually start the second instance on both of my dual processor machines (NT 4.0 and W2K)

The problerm seems to exist on Win95, 98, NT4.0 and W2K.

Some performance data:

Dual Pentium 233, 256meg ram, NT4.0, 750 structures per hour
AMD K5 333, 64meg ram, Win95OSR2, 880 structures per hour
Dual PIII 1ghz, 1gig ram, W2K, 3900 structures per...

The problem still exists on NT4.0 and Win2k as of today.
