As far as I get it, you mean the Microsoft VM with JVM and the Sun version with JRE, right?
Well, I wouldn't use Microsoft's VM anyway and stick with the JRE (JDK is not needed for most people)....

I just tested some idea and stumbled over another strange occurence (which is unrelated to my idea...):

Could you post a diagram showing the derivation of these graphs? I'd love to see how much performance gain we have. Maybe we can even see some client changes in it? ;)

    Re: Re: Fast track now?

The 20M limit is for sieving only. I don't think that no tests with n > 20M will be issued. The test's likeliness of being a prime will be much lower than that of n's < 20M, though, as there has been...

P4 power in sieving mostly relies on a fast FSB.
    Using FSB800, I get 2*275 = 550kp/s on a P4 running at 3 GHz w/ Hyper-Threading enabled.

It's not as fast as the Athlons, but quite good anyway...

As you're sieving a range intended for the 300k-3M values, it's not advisable to use the 1M-20M SoB.dat file.

That's because the Celeron is a Pentium4 type CPU, which often is inferior when it comes to number-crunching. Even the real P4 has difficulties to keep up - unless you're using a 800 MHz bus.

You might want to try out HTTPort. It basically does exactly this.
On the other end, you can use HTTHost or connect to one of the servers already set up on some computers.
