    mprime error?

    Wednesday mprime reported:

    P-1 found a factor in stage #2, B1=60000, B2=720000.
    28433*2^10290193+1 has a factor: 15481222456892501

But that factor doesn't verify on the submission page?

Try the largsieve submission page instead of the sieve submission page.

I can't submit this one either ... not on the either the normal sieve submission site or the largesieve site.

What version of mprime did you use?

I wish I knew some way to test if this is really a factor and the error is on the submission page or it is a error in mprime.

If it is an error in mprime, I think it should be reported to this forum where george will surely pick it up.

The factor is less than 2^64, so it shouldnøt be neccesary to use the largesieve submission page (but I have tried anyway).

    It is version 24.6.

As it's rather easy to test I was hoping someone had a program they could test it in, or perhaps someone else might try to factor the number with another program, so we might know whether there is a factor that's just reported wrong.

I don't think we should trouble George until we know for sure that it's an error in mprime.

I am just trying to run it in mprime v.24.14, to see if it gives the same result.

I will be away from the computer for a little while, but I should be able to report the result in 4-5 hours.

    According to http://www.swox.com/gmp/#TRY it's a good factor

    Just paste

    ((28433*2^10290193)+1) mod 15481222456892501

    in the demo 1 box.

The result is 0, thus a factor.

Does this mean there's a problem with the factor submission form. Didn't something like this happen a year or two ago following a s/w upate (or something) on the server.

Well seems that I didn't need to do this extra test anyhow of course v. 24.14 also found this factor... I can't igure anything other than it then is a problem with the factor submission form

    Code:
    P-1 found a factor in stage #2, B1=30000, B2=292500.
    28433*2^10290193+1 has a factor: 15481222456892501

    Probably.

I think you're right, I guess should try to contact one of the admins.
