    Linux slave without hard drive(how?)

I will be receiving the computer parts I won in the drawings held on IRC pretty soon, and I don't intend to install Windows software on them. I was hoping to suggest a scenario involving Linux and get opinions and suggestions about it.

Basically, I want to have an attachment to my other boxes that has a cpu, motherboard, and a 512 MB stick of RAM and boot it up without a hard drive(or at least use one of the hard drives while keeping it in use with my Windows box, not taking it out of the case it's in or anything like that.)

I was thinking it might be possible to boot it with a cd in a drive(it'll be sieving for Riesel Sieve) and have it refer to a directory on my Windows pc(I can partition if I have to) to tell it where to write and where to start.

I have a lot of learning ahead of me, but I'm pumped, so post away.
