    weird residue

    check this out

    [Sat Dec 31 18:46:08 2005] n.high = 3337302 . 1 blocks left in test
    [Sat Dec 31 18:47:21 2005] residue: 0000000300000000

i dont know about weird.. but certainly unexpected..

now i know that a zero residue mean it is prime, i assume other residues are just 'random'

but i wonder how truely random they are..

    just a thought

Rerun the test. That residue is no good.

A double check of the test will be performed and should result in a different residue and therefore a triple check.

the test came from error fix so i guess it'll be a fourth check, was that residue an automatic test is no good residue or was this an extremely close call t oa false positive?

While I agree the residue is definitely suspect, I'd like to point out that there are literally millions of possibilities where someone could look at a residue and think they see a pattern.

It's remotely possible that this residue is correct and that our human brains, always looking for patterns, feel that it "doesn't look right."

We had such a topic about half a yer ago.

You find the cure in the last post, probably. If not, try to run memtest as well. An explanation is given somewhere in the middle.

    Sorry for that. Yours H.
