I have a (nightly) ntpdate call in my /etc/crontab to keep my boxen in sync with the world.
It is 5:30 pm and the forum watch shows 5:23 pm (GMT+2)

Fixed it. Didn't realise ntpd hadn't been running since the memory upgrade.

Is there a Windows equivalent to that program?Originally Posted by alpha

Just double click on the clock at the bottom right side of the screen and out pops a dialog box. Go to Internet Time tab and check the "Automatically synchronize with an Internet time server".
Found it!!! Apparently, it was synchronized about 24 hours ago without my knowledge.(I have a permanent connection to the Internet)Originally Posted by PY 222

Is it just me or is the clock some minutes back again?
Forum shows 06:24 am, while it is 06:26 am

Yeah, looks about 2 minutes out.
Maybe it isn't synchronised very often.
A cronjob once a day or at least once a week synchronising the time would be great

hmmm,
it's running as a, nntp daemon so should always keep up to date. Not sure why it isn't

Bok -
good chance the hardware clock on your server is having problems. ntpd will only update the time by a certain shift amount (usually in the neighborhood of 1-5 seconds) so that apps and logs don't get seriously confused. What time server(s) are you synching to?
server 0.north-america.pool.ntp.org
server 1.north-america.pool.ntp.org
server 2.north-america.pool.ntp.org
are the standard ones..
Bok,
