Dell Battery Recall

The recall affects certain Inspiron, Latitude and Precision mobile workstations and XPS units shipped between April 2004 and July 18, 2006. Sony manufactured the batteries that are being recalled, the representative said.

I'm affected... I got a Dell Precision M60 Mobile Workstation and the number of my battery is on the list, so I need a replacement...

I'm glad that it is "only" my "workstation" at work and not a private one. If I ran a DC project on it I might have been torched by my Dell M60

Actually, it might not matter how much you use it, stored energy is stored energy. The problems COULD be from wear and tear, but may have nothing to do with how much cpu you use.

Has anyone read anything about what makes these batteries most likely to catch fire? Honestly, I'm guessing it's wear and tear from random movement wearing it down rather than cpu activity.

A vibrating hard drive might be a slight problem though.

Just my opinion.
