So, with all these 64 bit CPUs flying around, can we see a AMD64 compile of the client
http://eon.cm.utexas.edu/download/x86_64/
and a linky added to the downloads page please?
http://eon.cm.utexas.edu/download.php
that would be marvelous.

It is our job as users and contributors to make the demand for native 64 bit versions of applications visible.
Otherwise there is less reason for coders to upgrade clients or applications or drivers to make them native 64 bit if the 32 bit version still works on a 64 bit OS.
The key payoff is where a performance gain can be made.
Is there a gain to be found here?
Have the eOn team tested a 64-bit compiled client?
I don't know.
But I'd like to.

I just checked the source out of CVS and made it per instructions and it ran. I haven't benchmarked it to see if it is any faster though. The only trick was I had to install libg2c to get it to run.
Funny thing. When I run the release client, it downloads a version of libAlCli.so that is statically linked. When I run the client I compiled locally, it downloads a dynamically linked version of libAlCli.so that references the /lib64 versions of the runtime.
