    Code = 5 error on XPx64 multi-core

    Hi chaps.

    We have a member over on the AMD Users forum getting a neat little error message "Code = 5" when trying to start the sobsvc after following the instructions.

    We have checked against "Code = 4", tick boxes are ok.

    Can you shed more light on "Code = 5" and how our member might resolve this issue?

    Thanks.

    AMDave

    Not sure

    but if they check the GUI it might have autostart on Windows boot or something similar and this messes with the service.

    Oops that's maybe a code=4 error. Sorry
    Alas poor Borg, I knew it Horatio

    Hi Fozzie.

    Thanks for the reply.
    You are right that would be a "Code = 4"
    We checked for that and eliminated it.

    Also checked file paths, still no dice.

    We really need to know what a "Code = 5" means.

    I can't find any record of a SoB client "Code = 5" and I don't recall ever seeing it myself, either.

    If there is there a CVS or SVN that I can check the code from I could locate the answer myself, but I am not aware of that being available. (?)

    I'm hoping IB or JoeO et al. can shed some light on this one.

    Is he by chance running Vista? Error 5 shows up trying to rub sobsvc on Vista. http://www.free-dc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=12518

    @enderak
    Not vista. It is WinXP_64.
    The error code is the same as in that thread, but it is past the service install and failing when attempting to start the service.

    Thanks IB.
    We have already been through those steps and compared notes.
    Nothing informative came from the exercise, though.
    I have PM'd alien88 for more info on the "Code = 5" condition.
