    New Tags

As Bok has been showing off the new tags.
I thought it about time to show case it.. currently you can't do much until Bok adds the switch on / off option and gives you a space to put the image.
Okay if it can't find the info the background and you've asked for one, it will first try any "image" you've put in, then your "team" image, if one is available then the default image. I know sounds complex but it's simple enough
so what's needed to get a team image in place I hear
Well we need an image file preferably in PNG file format
Now you have a few options: 1) image size is 470px w x <50px h (this will be stretched to fit) 2) any other image size will result in it being aligned to the bottom and to the right hand side. (e.g a small or large team logo).
I've got it so the image fades into whatever background color you've chosen.
Since the Height of the tag varies with the amount of projects your running obviously a large image may end up squished.

Testing done, coding in place in the statstool, switch over will be soon.....

Anyone have any ideas for a proper free-dc team background then, rather than my gold / silver / bronze wave effect?
Also any other teams have any backgrounds image they want to put in 470 wide x say 100 high (height is project dependent.)

I like the trophies, look good! How will it be determined? By RAC, weekly output, monthly?

Same goes for the site contributors. You say from #9 to #1. Like, one bronze star for #9 of a team, two bronze stars for #8, three bronze stars for #7, one silver for #6, two silver #5, and so on? If yes, I think it's a pretty good system.
Do you plan on something like a "minimum donation" to get a star, or will it only be the mere amount of money donated within a team. Put to the extreme, would a 10 cents donation suffice for three golden stars if the other members of a team only donated 9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2 and 1 cent? Or is this thing not bound to teams at all but more within a ranking of overall donations? Like, if you donated more than 30$ you get one bronze star, with 50$ a second and so on?

I haven't put too much thought into it yet actually, but I think you're on the right tracks.

Good input. I'll probably implement it properly on monday.

I've had code int ot track daily/weekly/monthly top contributors for a while now, but never did anything with it. I'll maybe extend it to within a team and use that..

Feel free to float ideas around

The only thing I would say is it would be a shame to see the stats pages get spammed out with loads of images. The stars gopher posted earlier are nice, but I think they could have been slightly smaller (unless these are just prototypes). Also, to have as many as three stars per user seems unnecessary because the colour already signifies "rank".

Secondly, it would be nice if it could be implemented in a way to complement small crunchers for personal achievements. For instance, I'd like to see some kind of image (a different coloured star?) for when you beat your most productive day (to date) on a project, or if you suddenly ramp up and produce more than you did the week before. This way, not only the big guns sit at the top with all their permanent stars whilst the small producers have nothing. Granted, I'm biased as a small cruncher myself, but it is just an idea that balances things out and gives acknowledgement to all. Plus it gets you pushing and trying to outproduce yourself, which can only be good for the associated project.

I don't want to sound too negative though, I think it is a nice idea and support it.

edit: Sorry, just realised the stars were for donors and the trophies were for production, but you get my meaning. Of course, the donors should be recognised fully.

    I completely agree.

Doing what you say makes sense. IF I can implement it I will, but it's a big IF, with over 2M users in the boinc user database alone, tracking this kind of thing might be intensive, I'm not sure. Let me think about how I could do it and I'll perhaps prototype it.

I could make the stars slightly smaller - they are for donors in other ways other than monetary if that makes sense i.e they've taken time to get something running or what not - which makes Bok, IB & Dy #1 , me i'm somewhere like #99 :P
I do like the idea of that - where you set a new Daily Personal Best (PB) / Weekly PB / Monthly PB ... I'll work on something for that later it's a bit late and well my brains a little fuddled with Magners right now..

    Stats4 -
Tag code redone slightly, I've moved all the backgrounds to their own folder and added a font folder as well (so all fonts can get dumped there).
No idea if any other files use the fonts so just copied for now.
Also moved the "icons" to an "icons" folder (copy)..
Updated the ones on stats (copies in icons-old) not remapped this yet.
