    Hi chaps,

I'm in the process of bringing a new BOINC based project online and was hoping that you'd include it in your stats.

The location of the project is http://genlife.is-a-geek.org/genlife/

And this is a not-for-profit project with the purpose of running simulations on the evolution of simple systems. The project page contains a link to my original documentation and I shall (once I've tidied the code up a little) in due course publish the source code as well as welcoming anyone wishing to create a creature to run in the simulator.

I have no local forum as yet but I'm going to be working on that this week and at present I only have sample work units (the nature of the project is that I can re-use the results from one work unit as input into the next) but will start generating some real WU's once I've confirmed the GNU/Linux and Windows versions that the binaries successfully run on,

    Cool,

yes, I'll add it as soon as you start exporting the xml stats

    http://genlife.is-a-geek.org/genlife/stats/

is empty right now. Only takes about 10mins to add a new boinc project..

I've registered and created the Free-DC team.

My user ID is 7, lol. It's a single digit, it's prime, and not only is it prime, it's a Mersenne prime.

OOH OOH, I almost forgot about the whole lucky 7 concept.

Can you give us a more detailed description please? Can you describe the science involved? What are the ultimate goals?

Hmm yeah 50 a day might suck but think about this...
It's still a fairly new project from a quick thread read anyway.

    Hi all,

Yes, still a very new project - hence the basic look and feel to the site and the 50 WU per day.

There is a link on the main page giving more detail on the project - up until now I''ve never been able really long simulations to see how these 'machine code' creatures evolve and survive over very long timescales (my original mahine running was an Amiga which valiantly tried by would never have been able get too 100million run cycles. My hope is to be able to run some cycles of hundreds of bilions of cycles - and I'm intending to do this by recycling 'interesting' results back as new work units which will continue on from where the previous work unit had finished,

Still rather an alpha project, so there will be teething problems, but I'm learning the ways of BOINC fast.

    regards,
    Mark
