    Plea for power on OGR

I don't know how many of you have been following things concerning the stats of OGR-25, but it is TRULY down to wire. We could end the project in 4th or 5th place depending on our crunching, linux.de 's crunching, and how much work is left to do in the stubspace. This battle is almost certainly going to be decided in the last few weeks of the project.

If you are the least bit competitive, then please help us by downloading the distributed.net client . Mind you, our competition involves non-BOINC distributed.net scoring, so if the BOINC distributed.net work units aren't applied to the non-BOINC distributed.net Free-DC team(wow, that's 3 proper nouns in a row, and then a regular noun) then it doesn't help our effort.

Now, everybody can crunch what they want, I'm not going to be unhappy with anyone who doesn't help, or even quits helping. But this project is about to end(well sub-project, but the stats aren't going to affect other distributed.net stuff) and it'd be great not to lose our spot in the last days.

    GO TEAM!!!

There are two Jason Goatcher's in the stats. The original label for the live one was rieselsanta at gmail dot com , and I only turned that one into Jason Goatcher yesterday or the day before. I didn't want to crunch under an account that I wouldn't ever know the password for(the other account is an old email) so I started a new account. The new account is tremendously younger, but will be well ahead of the old one within a week or so.

    Woo! More power!

With highvoltz and laurenu2 up and cruising again, and the additional power from Fozzie and jasong and others, it's a tight race again!

    Let's keep on away!

We had a good day yesterday, we kept linux-de's gain to under 3million, if we can keep that up, we should be able to hold out for around 55 days. Which should be enough.

BTW: jasong: I don't know if you saw my post in the "When will OGR finish thread, but you can combine your old emails into your new account. Instant boost and keeps the stats tidier

PSBTW: The boincies should be worried. End of the week you will be taken by linux-de.org

    Cheers IB

Just need to poke a few more people and we could keep our 4th place safe.

Come on everyone just hit OGR for a few weeks.

Great to see Beyond and Brucifer with big returns yesterday.

We had 23 returnees yesterday Highvoltz, Lauren and Maefly did about 1 million, can the rest of us do another million together.

Fire 'em up if you have them Free DC needs your GHZ

I just don't have any firepower really to throw at this, throwing firepower I have at SoB / Int Realms / R@H /F@H the little I have that is, trying to figure out what I really need to replace to take me to dual-64 level I know it's semi-old but I'll step up to dual core 64-bit AMD from single core will be big enough , that and I just not long ago shelled out a bit of cash for this agp graphics card and i wouldn't want that to be a total waste...

    Whoa!!!

The predicted end date is galloping towards us at a phenomenal rate. The 30-day prediction, which uses the stats from the last 30 days to project an end date, here, has decreased by 2.5 months in the last 3-4 days. It is very possible that this project could be wrapped up before the end of the month.

    All the more reason

to hit it as hard as possible for this month to ensure we keep 4th place.

Come on everyone a copuple of weeks dedicated to OGR is all we should need.

    Code:
    7(+1) linux-de.org
    8(-1) yoyo@home BOINC wrapper
    Sorry BOINCies!

Team Warped (OS/2) probably have about ten days (at current rates) before linux-de.org snatches 6th place from them!

We had 22 members submitting work today, let's keep going!

    I noticed

a distinct lack of jasong returning work yesterday.

So jasong are you saving up a seeing as it was your plea for power, you should stick to the project.

    *laughs*

Give him at least one day's grace. It only takes a few large stubs to stop an instance flushing in a 24 hour period.

Even with three machines running I have days where my output is apparently zero.

On an un-related topic, the subspace 8 stubs look enormous!

Just love these projects with a nice clean, 1980's-style user interface.

Anyhow, after an impassioned plea from the Fozzmeister, I've got a box or two running OGR, using IB's setup instructions. Supposedly, at some point, it will become clear how to join Free-DC. I will await developments.

    I think you need to

    email

    statspass@distributed.net

get yourself a username and password and then you can edit your information on the stats page and join there.

    What? Just any message? OK.

    Email sent. Cultivating patience.

Edit: Just re-read IB's instruction page. Cultivating even MORE patience, until my email addr shows up on the OGR page. (Sigh!)

    Very cool

Thanks! Whenever the daily update happens (?), I'll ship out my request & get onboard. What a procedure!

Edit: I'm in! Very cool to start in 68325th place.
Have to see what I can do about that. Fortunately, two Athlon 64 X2 3GHz CPU's chew this through this stuff pretty quickly.

The work day starts and end at 00.00GMT. The individual stats are updated about 0030GMT, and the ogr status page takes a few more hours.

Joining a team isn't that hard Once you hit the "Please Email Me My Details" from your stats page and get the email, you just need to visit the Free-DC page.

Though patience for things to filter through is a slight necessity!

Got it, thanks. I should show up on tonight's midnight stats.

Now to go looking for some borgies to supplement my meager 12GHz at home.

I'm pushing hard to get to 4 Pnodes before the end of the project. Based on my average of 9T per day this past week means it will take another two weeks, which should be enough time.

jasong, where are you? Nothing submitted since 4th September. A couple of hundred thousand Gnodes could be enough to keep our place for all we know. Bring the power!

Heck I jumped on this project and I don't normally do that, just jump on a new project when the call goes out. Fozzie, Helix, Alpha - ditto where is the mad one, and I can say that as I must be a freaking insane, I'm sure HvS can verify that one, he's seen what I drive.

Do I suddenly have a new nickname?

Truthfully, after I noticed my computer wasn't crunching LHC many weeks back, I decided to run some BOINC, and then I kept having problems with my computers for a few days, which meant no DCing at all. About twelve hours before I would've returned to the project, someone recruited me for a small(less than 20 people involved) prime number project.

That last one is what really put the nail in the LHC crunching coffin. I had been feeling jaded about DCing(I have mood swings, and lots of them), so when an online friend invited me into a personal project of his, I decided to jump on board.
