Think I'll stick to FireFox myself where I can control the horizontal and vertical, and adblock and script blocking

I've been playing with it for a day and I go along with IB. It SERIOUSLY needs AdBlock! I've been spoiled - forgot all the advertising that gets slathered on my favorite sites (Free-DC excepted, of course). I run half a dozen plugins on Firefox to make life simpler & safer.

On the plus side, it neatly picked up all my preferences from Firefox and even automatically installed my signing certificate. And I like the "front page" concept.

However, it definitely needs help. I'll probably keep it around to see how it evolves, but it's not ready for prime time, IMHO. Guess that's why they use the word "beta".

Agreed. Standards wise it seems fairly compliant, no complaints there. Lack of add-ons right now stops me using it though..

Yeah, I like the design where every tab is a process and the task manager and the incognito mode. Javascript is smoking fast. Like you said, lack of add-ons is a big issue (I need my mouse gestures). They will probably make a dent in the market share of all the browsers soon, especially with Google's marketing reach and bundling.

Google's new web browser Chrome is fast, shiny, and requires users to sign their very lives over to Google before they can use it. Today's Internet outrage du jour has been Chrome's EULA, which appears to give Google a nonexclusive right to display and distribute every bit of content transmitted through the browser. Now, Google tells Ars that it's a mistake, the EULA will be corrected, and the correction will be retroactive.

Unless some other browser comes along that is better/faster with the right add-ons to remove all the stupid ads, flash crap and other annoying things that webmasters think are cool...

Ah, so others have that problem to? That's about the only thing that causes me trouble with Firefox 3. I prefer to blame Microsoft for everything. Even if they're not at fault, they've probably committed some other unknown crime they deserve to be punished for, so it all works out.

Frames suck mightily. Don't know who had the idea for frames, but they should have just said, "Naw, let's do something else."

It was back in the day when DIV wasn't really supported or you had to write it as <div> or <layer> and have double the code to manipulate it with.
I mean frames are FINE as long as you actually either make them invisible or make them a semi-feature out of them by tarting them up with some styles..
and as for "Flash" menu's sorry I have one on my own site, was a javascripted one but dues to freaking browser "issues" i gave up, and I don't even try to get stuff to work with opera as I gave up with that too as it didn't do someone I wanted it to - dynamic background didn't work :|...

Can not your steeps be be tracked just by your IP address ?

Not really unless they can prove it's just 1 PC behind that 1 IP, multiple PC would leave multiple trails and no way of proving which pages belong to which trail etc they need slightly more id than an IP thus why some people use a proxy service, the generated S/N of your HDD is fairly unique as are a few other things hidden away but these are hidden and not easy to get at really.

Your ISP can see your MAC address depending on what kind of Internet service you have, but websites would not see your MAC address, just an IP.

My ISP rarely changes IP addresses for me so I can be fairly easily tracked by that.

Regarding the tight EULA which IronBits mentioned, Google revised it very quickly after all the online discussion.

Update - Google amends Chrome EULA

(Updated 4 Sep '08 0830 GMT) Google has amended section 11.1 of the Chrome EULA so that it now reads:

11.1 You retain copyright and any other rights that you already hold in Content that you submit, post or display on or through the Services.

There are now no other sub-sections in section 11. What you see is what you get. Terrific. Google acted with alacrity. Great stuff. No worries.

Just make sure you opt-out of reporting anonymous statistics to Google.

well chrome is ideal for gmail. it far faster in mailbox even than ff.

also few words about ADS - try admuncher.com - it only 200k installation, but you can control all your traffic, cut off ads, nasty images, webbugs, ie windows without scroll or menu, and a lot of other things. just try it and you will love it forever. it saves me around 1Gb in a month removing ads )))))0.
