Try downloading from ATI's site for latest drivers (10.3) as some manufacturers sites not getting updated drivers on very fast. I'm running Folding@Home on my gpu. A bit hot but not too bad in cool English climate. I did put a better heatsink on as well cos none of the cards, especially cheaper version company's, like getting too hot.

It's not just the 58xx cards that are having problems. Take a look here to read about what's been going on. It could be that this was part of the problem with my 4890s. I'll try again on thursday to get them running again.

No problem. How much credit does it crank out in a day? You're just trying to make me get another GPU, aren't you.

I'm not worried about beating you in any single project but your total daily production has surpassed mine. That just won't do. Next thing you know you'll be trying to pass me on total credit.

It's not for getting food. He built it for the new Boinc project that calculates the calories in fast food, Obesity@home.

Are you sure you can stand the heat?

Then again with all the heat those will produce you could convert your garage into a BBQ place and make some money to buy some more.

Since we're turning up the heat, I thought we should track the teams progress.

We're 64th on this? Holy crap, I thought with all the GPU firepower you and Lauren had on this we'd be quite high up there.

When I reach 1 million blocks on RC5-72 I'll swing by over here to put down another million or two.

I've had all my Nvidia cards on Collatz. They're winding down the cache from there and switching over to Milkyway. In a few days the numbers should see a dramatic increase but there are some teams with a lot of horse power on this project. As an example the top team SETI USA has over 1100 members and are pulling down over 6,000,000 credits a day.

Hmm.. that's an average of ~5,500 credits/day per person on that team, which isn't much (presumably they are not all active though). If there were a few more of us with capable GPUs, I think we could approach a a few million per day but there doesn't seem to be that much interest right now for whatever reason. We're far outproducing quite a few teams above us though, so we should be able to climb the ranks.

I'll be able to switch over within a couple of weeks or so, but I'll only be good for <100k per day.

Since I've reached 75,000,000 on Collatz, tomorrow all the GPUs will be pointed at Milkyway. That plus the new card should put me somewhere around 900,000 a day. If you add in Laurenu2 and Alpha that should put the team at about 1.5 Mil. a day. I guess a lot of people just dont understand that by adding a lowly HD4850, which I found on a US retailers website for $109, they will gain about 70,000 credits a day. And to top it all off, you can put it in any old computer with a PCIe slot. I've got an old Sempron 3000 making over 70,000 a day.

All the GPUs I have are now pointed at Milkyway. Just sitting here waiting for my HD5850 to arrive.
    So far there are

    2 HD4890s
    3 HD4850s
    10 GTX260s

Average work according to Boinc manager is 260,000 and climbing fast.

I would first check the power supply and then the GPU fan. I toasted a couple of those before.

Wow he's running a three legged race all by himself.
