So, will the yet-to-be-released "PS3 Crack"[1] yield any exciting results for distributed computing?

I don't own a PS3, but based on what I've heard the following were sort of a bummer:

1) Only 6 of the 8 SPEs are available when running under Linux (one for the HV, the other disabled for "quality control" purposes)
2) PS3 Slim stopped supporting running Linux as an alternative
3) direct GPU access was never available under Linux

Which means a cracked PS3 may allow

a) using all 8 SPEs (unless one of them is indeed toast on your specific unit)
b) using the lower powered, smaller sized PS3 slim
c) also potentially utilizing the GPU if CUDA can be supported

Does this mean we'll see another upsurge of cracked PS3 clusters?
