    Old - XML Stats

Do you guys already have a url for xml stats something similar to this?

    http://boinc.netsoft-online.com/get_...49d87e35f26480

If not would it be possible to get one?

    Cheers!

Hmm the short answers is No, we grab the stats from other places and we've never been asked to export them before so never done it.

Correct, no-one has ever expressed a need. IIRC James over at netsoft wrote it to provide the boinc projects themselves the data to display other project scores on a users homepage yes?

Is he having bandwidth problems ?

Not having any issues that I know of, the stats over there seem to be done slightly differently.

I use the xml to display stats in our team IRC channel and the guys are complaining that there is a disparity between James' stats and the stats here or on Boincstats.

There is a little of that but we are talking millions of credits difference. I think it is due to the way retired projects are being handled.

    For example:

    http://boinc.netsoft-online.com/get_...173c6d1cf16b44

    Total Credit: 107,133,764

    http://stats.free-dc.org/stats.php?p...173c6d1cf16b44

    Total Credit: 109,665,865

    Difference: 2,532,101

Now on the other hand my personal stats are pretty close.

    http://boinc.netsoft-online.com/get_...314dcc2a857cb6

    Total Credit: 1,303,635

    http://stats.free-dc.org/stats.php?p...314dcc2a857cb6

    Total Credit: 1,303,643

Part of it at least is the rounding, for instance your Rosetta@Home score in the xml export from R@H is

    <total_credit>28055.977288</total_credit>

Netsoft is rounding down to 28055 (likely cutting it off) whereas I actually hold the full decimal number, round it correctly but use the full number in the overall calculation.

For mumps in your first example, at a quick glace it only had 41 projects from netsoft but I'm showing 45. Genetic Life missing ? You might by right on archiving. I don't really distinguish between archived and non archived at all.

Yes, Genetic Life is one that I found as well, Nano-Hive another. James thought that the CPID may have changed.

    Do you track CPID changes?

I don't really track changes to CPID as it's much the same as someone changing their nickname on a project, but I certainly am not averse to updating the cpid for projects that are deemed old for a user and have done it in the past for quite a few users. Given BOINC has no process in place to do it ( and I don't think they could) the logical place is in the stats sites. It's a semi-manual process right now as it's really few and far between users who want it.

    Simple BOINC Stats

I think it may make more sense if you explain what all that gets distilled to. Betcha BOK may even have the info you're after handy after all. :-) WIthin IRC, he's got a bot that responds thusly:

    >!boinc
    Name:Mumps [SETI.USA]
    BOINC Combined:107,332,772
    BOINC Avg:411,062
    World Rank:225
    World Avg Rank:209
    Updated:08/19/2010,03:00:01 UTC
That's the primary "distilled" use of that XML kd linked there. :-)

If you don't ask for that whole pile of data, it may be easier. I know you're thinking about allowing the users to pull out specific projects, but the default use is just that above summary.

    Thanks for the clarification Mumps!

So I take it that there is no interest in implementing something like this?

I'm not too interested in generating a full implementation for the whole world, but I'd be happy to provide a script for you to get stats for your team/individual if you wish. I do this for a few other teams for displaying data in their forums on a weekly/monthly basis.

Just PM me with what format and fields you'd like.

Awesome! Unfortunately RL is taking up most of my time currently, I will get you a PM as soon I can.

    Thanks!

  15. #15
Seems that I don't have permissions to do a PM. Maybe I need a few more posts.
