    Downtime tomorrow

Cross posted from the News Forum...

In preparation for wideband which is being rolled out here in the Raleigh, NC area, I'm having my modem switched out to a new docsis3.0 from Time Warner. Looks like they already started the switch as I'm getting 26Mbps down today though up is still pretty bad at 400kbps. They've said that full wideband should be available within the next few weeks so I'll be in a 50MBdown/5Mbup connection which should be MUCH better..

So, tomorrow afternoon, roughly 5PM EST to 6PM EST, there could be some outages to the websites. Likely it won't be long at all...

Wow I never paid attention to your location, hi neighbor. I noticed the download speed increase as well within the last week I just wish I had seen some upload increase. I tend to get in the low 300kbps. I will consider wideband primarily for the upload increase, once they publish the price differences.

Since the site is back up I guess the new modem is working.

Heh Yes, all working. My IP address did not even change during the switchover. Talked quite a lot with the tech who came out and he was saying that all the pieces are in place, it's just a case of flipping the switch to give the higher speeds. I've been running speedtests on and off to the wilson servers and have had various readings, including one which was 84Mbps down, but uploads have still never been more than 450Kbps so far. I'm waiting patiently for that to increase...

It varies as they are still working on the network, highest download I've seen was 102Mbps, but here is one just done.
