    Great news on OGR

To anybody not reading the .plans; Nerf has great news for all OGR users:
    :: 27-May-2003 12:53 CDT (Tuesday) ::
Your years of waiting are over. We now have completion data for OGR.

    See http://stats.distributed.net/projects.php?project_id=24 (and 25) for
    all the fun.

Note that we're not done. Expect to see a bit more data coming in the
    future.

Does this means that they are done or not?

We are all still getting OGR-24 stubs!

Come on already, get it all over with dangit!

The news just means you can see the "percent complete" value of the projects (OGR-24, -25) now.

    OGR-24 ist done 53.19%, OGR-25 is done 64.21%.

I don't know if this includes both runs (all stubs seem to get double-checked).

What I still miss is an explanation about the bug Bruce Wilson mentioned some time ago in the OGR core.

It will be interesting to see how many % is getting done each day...

At least we know where we are in the project now..

Ok.. according to the Percent complete, we have done 53.19% of all the GNodes that are within the OGR-24 project. This took 1049 days of crunching time, approximately 2.8 years.

So, is it safe to say that it will take almost another 2 and a half years just to finish this project?

Take into account that there was a long time (one year?) where no OGR-24 stubs where given out by the server. Only OGR-25 stubs were sent out then.

At yesterdays rate OGR-24 would take just over 63 days!!!

    That's simple math:

    Total Gnodes Tested: 286,422,324
    Percent Complete: 53.92%

That leads to 531.198.672 Gnodes overall, and 244.776.348 that have yet to be testet.

Yesterday 2,772,226 Gnodes were completed. 244.776.348 divided by 2,772,226 gives us approx. 88 days till completion. Either I or rus6 have a little flaw in our maths, but still, OGR-24 COULD be finished within less than 100 days ....

  10. #10
I just worked out from the % done, not total nodes hence the different figures...

    Yesterday OGR-24 was 53.19% done today 53.92%

So in one day we did 0.73%

And we need to do 46.08% (100-53.92)

    46.08/0.73 gives us 63.123

So at the that days rate it would take us around 63 days...

Wirthi's figures might be more accurate, because the % completed may have been rounded up or down..

Hmm .. that can't be right. Your calculation is ok, but if yesterday 0.72% or 2,772,226 Gnodes were completed, then there should be 385.031.388 Gnodes overall. As I've shown above, there should be much more than that (>500.000.000). That's to much to be a rounding glitch.

.... after a short while of thinking and reading the stats again ...

I guess I've got the solution: There's a hint in the d.net stats:
The completion values are calculated in a separate stats run and may not be available at the same time as other values. In this case, the values from the previous day will be used.
I think that's the glitch. The 0.72% and the 2.772.226 were not done the same day.

Anyway, forget the math. What we both want to show is: OGR-24 could be done in less than 100 days. That's what really counts. Cheers

I have graphs of all three projects in the works... The data will start accurately flowing tomorrow (hopefully).... but we'll see how things go, and I'll post the information here.

    Any update on this?

Crumbs I was looking at the % complete on dnet for OGR-24

OGR-24 is 84.75% complete!!! Not long to go now..

a little birdie told me to have you check the ogr-24/25 main project stats pages at d.net for a new little linky...

Keep crunching OGR and you're bound to catch some 24 mark stubs

Tough decision now .. OGR-24 or DF ? I'll put my machines on OGR for now, should be done anytime soon, then DF will get top priority.

OGR's good, and we could also use some help in Eccp2 holding off Team Victo. We even have an outside shot at reaching 11th place, though it's debatable given the short time we think we have left. Our ZetaGrid effort could also use a few cycles now and again.

DF has become a comedy if errors, and eventually someone involved with the project is going to do the math and realize they need to trash the current point-scoring algorithm, which means everyone will have to start again at 0.

I have been throwing afew at ZetaGrid of late, when I can get any work! Will have to take a closer look at Eccp2, getting a little burnt out on OGR but filling the proxy with 24's anyway.

    OGR-24: Percent Complete: 99.95%

Sounds like "today" ... but you never know.

Yea, but that mainly depends on the system that d.net is using. How long are they waiting for packets to return, to resubmit them to somebody else if they don't return. If they set this value to one day or so, 100% could be reached a bit faster. On the other hand, those with slow machines and/or without direct net access wouldn't be able to get (full) points for their work done. As if that would really count at 99.95% done ... I'm a stats fanatic too but I'd rather see this (sub-)project finished than getting a few points more.

I have the impression that dnet has released the missing stubs several times. In 2 days we nearly submitted 1% of the total 'stubs-space'

My guess is that we will wrap this thing up in the weekend!

That would be my guess too, but I will only be 100% sure if I can read 100% on the stats page ...

I'm seeing 100% from here at 8:00 GMT.

If this is true, excellent news - and it was about time! I assume we will finish with 25 mark stubs before we move on, but I can't wait for some 26's
