The federal government Friday launched a national "do-not-call" registry aimed at stopping most telemarketing phone calls to people who regard the sales pitches as invasive and want them blocked.

Memo to the FTC and AT&T: Add more freaking machines!
Same here. I suspect they're swamped!
By the time the dust settles, there'll probably be about 13-14 home phones in the U.S. that aren't on the registry, and they'll be advertising execs who just like to hear their own stuff.
That would be toooooo funny!
They actually contacted many major email providers such as MSN, Hotmail, Yahoo, email and etc!Originally posted by rsbriggs
I hear they had 250,000 successful registrations within a few hours after bringing the site up. I've registered, but haven't received my email, either.
(heh - they probably sent out so many emails that their ISP shut them down on suspicion of being an email spamming site....)
Well that is atleast what I have read in the article at http://news.com.com/2100-1032_3-1021904.html?tag=fd_top
I registered last night, and got my emails within minutes. (11PM PDT)
Really?
Never did get mine. Think I'll try again...
I registered my home phone and both cell phones just to see if it worked
because I will be moving in august and my numbers will change before the
whole deal takes effect in october.
I did it on saturday and got the conferm sunday morning.
For those of you who didn't get the confirmation, did you use an Yahoo like
account? Because Yahoo automaticly puts some mail in a junk folder and you
might no have checked it.

Good tip MrTRS! Thanks for bringing it up!
I actually received my email from the site last night, so I was really happy...
It's going to be interesting to see if this has any effect on the number of calls that get through. All confirmed here as well.
Finally received my email, many hours later. Guess they were just swamped.
Actually, I'm impressed. Even though they were getting bazillions of responses too fast to respond to in a timely manner, they still managed to keep track and eventually process them all. It's not as if they just dropped some on the floor. Well, at least not mine or Moogie's.
