The Phase2 FAQ says no credit after a changeover. So unless this has been changed, good luck.
At least the change is not on Friday the 13th!

Ther 48 hour period should be on by then if all goes well.

So, if the Folding God gets a sacrifice on Wednesday, we will have 48 hours to tidy up our mess and update without losing all our work...........

After the update, will we be folding honestly (using energy), or will we be cheating (using RMSD, which requires knowing the answer in advance)?

We will still be using RMSD for this run, until everything is back to its previous peacefulness in terms of the software itself (which should hopefully happen after this update)

Further, although you are correct in a sense that we are 'cheating', this does not mean we are generating useless information. Our current goal, starting with the next 2 proteins, is to get a complete folding pathway from unfolded to folded (or at least to 4A RMSD - as close to folded as we can get). These will be compared to pathways determined by other computational and physical methods and hopefully will give some further insight into protein folding.

How long is the next protein scheduled to be worked on approximately?

I'll have lots of offline boxes running without any access to them for almost 3 weeks, starting on the 17th....

Better switch to another project or stick with DF and hope there's no changeover in the middle?

    Thanks in advance,

    Rag

Howards is the 48 hour changeover

grace period in action or no??

I do 99.9% of my DF offline and will upload after the changeover.

Please dopn't say all that effort is blown away.

Should be a few weeks but always hard to predict. If you set your macines to accept auto-updates automatically (see the readme) then they should update and restart all by themselves, unattended (if you trust us )

    There is a difference between...

    should and is.

"Ther 48 hour period should be on by then if all goes well."

    Didn't sound 100%

    Pays to be sure.

I take it from the post by Howard later that it is, I am sure he would have said if it wasn't.

Howard, just FYI, it seems you didn't read this part of the question:

Sorry, I guess I'm just more of an optimist.
