    Hey IB --

Now that I've started adding firepower to this project, can I get my account added to the 'Overall Standings' chart on the Free-Dc team stats page?

    Thanks!

i have fixed this problem by putting the turbo client in the same folder as the installed client that supp suggested and it now appears to be working fine

    Supp,
Going to buy one of ColinT's XP1800's and I think I will dedicate it to ECCp.

    Rock on team!!!!

Whats the current end date for Eccp?

How long have we got to churn out more 'distinguished points'...

I'm not all that sure, but I think there are 58,000,000 possible DP. Therefore the project ends when that many DP have been submitted.. I think. So that would mean we're a little over half way?

The fact is that we need to produce DPs until 2 of them match.

It's estimated that it'll be after some +-58M DPs, but it could happen earlier or later...(worst case scenario is 100M)

There's probability of finding a solution on
    "Project Stats" in ECCp section.

Problem (if it can be called problem) is, that algorithm used in ECCp is non-deterministic and therefore luck plays its part.

    Hope this'll help.

The worst part is that there's also a good chance that the solution has been found but not yet returned. For instance, the DPC are supposedly planning a "mega-flush" at the end of the month. If they've saved up enough points, there's a reasonably good probability that they've been sitting on the solution for several weeks without knowing.

Of course, we don't know how big a DPC "mega-flush" really is. I've wandered around their various (very well organized, btw) sites and seen "mega" applied to numbers from 2200 to 300,000.

It would be ironic if someone turned in the solution point _just_ before the DPC did their big play.

    You're right!

That's why it's not good to have too much stash tucked somewhere for massive dump - somebody else can find a solution and then you can stick those DPs up your ...(you know ...) Even Chris (coordinator) said that, but you know, Cows are just cows.

I've beed reading through other DC forums lately and everybody wonders how big is DPSs' mega-flush going to be...ARSes think that it'll be +- 1 000000...we'll see in next few days anyway.

At least it wont affect us at all, its not like they can get any higher up the list. i would suspect that they are out to beat their previous record on the project stats page

I think thats probably why too. Stats have become so much of a factor (and dont get me wrong, I love stats!) that people are willing to live with the possibility of having two matching DP (and the possibility of someone submitting a winning DP before you), and "winning" the project. Apologies in advance, it is early and I'm cranky, but those people are morons. Think about all the wasted CPU cycles on a (possibly) already complete project that could be put to use in some other project. Surely the whole idea of this is to complete the project as soon as possible. So why the HELL would you withhold all those DPs? To beat the largest flush on the stats of course! Pfft.

    *grumble*

It is moronic when you think of all the wasted cycles over all the participants. there is a lot of computing power in the entire project and it is sad to think it is possibly wasted when it could be going on to the next project.

Matt had a grumble and i felt like one to.

alpha & Daza, you're right. But have you ever expected anything better from those lowland grazers??

But if they're holding solution for month now, I'll :|punch|: them, at least in their forum, because it's not ethical.

i don't get the big dump thing , it doesn't help the project at all

i understand some people have to batch their returns for various reasons, but waiting to return work just for the sake of a big dump doesn't make sense to me

    hmmm...

Dosn't give us much time to progress up the ladder either if they have a solution.

Team Austria is well within reach now ... they only have two active members at the moment...

never thought of that, damn. the longer the project the better in some ways, we are outproducing alot of teams its just they have a solid lead.

it would be good to make it to 15th

Not counting flushes, We are out-producing every team above us up to position 10.

But, like you say, they have had a head start...

Our first goal - top 20 - was dealt with now top 15 and top 10...

Y know, head start of other teams is really quite problem - see TVM, and as co-founder of TVM I know what I speak about. If they were there sooner (and not 1/2 year after project started) they'd be no.1 by now. (but )

Hey all. I saw on the stats a day or two ago that you had cracked the top 10 for the day. A big congrats on that, and I hope you beat your goal of #15 overall.

Supp - Congrats on the 50K. I just got there myself.

    Mega Flush

    Hmmm...

End of the month is upon us...

Any signs of this mega-flush which is going to end the project...

still rekon it would be funny as hell if somebody not in a team with a 400mhz or something like that got the winning DP and submited it just before the big flush

edit: Trying to make it make sense

Thanks for the welcome. I like the enthusiasm and sense of community I've noticed around here. All these animated smilies may take a bit to get used to though.

I've been trying to read the DPC forum to find out what's up with their Mega-Flush, but they all seem to post in this wierd code that I have a tough time breaking. I'm guessing it's soon though, because I see behavior fairly typical of them before a flush - feigned worry of a team ramping up or getting close to passing them. I just wonder if they do flush, if the ND servers are going to bog down. IIRC, when they did one of their bigger flushes before, they had to break it up over a couple days.

I'm not sure how the results validation->stats compilation works, but how about if the first point they submit and gets checked ends the contest, leaving them with 999,999 useless points that (perhaps) never show up in the stats.
