On the other hand..it could be extraordinarily bad... I seem to remember Thursday switches.

We could do the cutover and get bad software mojo or the servers fall over and it's the weekend and nobody rides in to fix them till Monday ... which HAS happened before .. remember?

Let's hope Howards karma is in good shape and paid up
Agent Smith was right!: "I hate this place. This zoo. This prison. This reality, whatever you want to call it, I can't stand it any longer. It's the smell! If there is such a thing. I feel saturated by it. I can taste your stink and every time I do, I fear that I've somehow been infected by it."

Unhappy More details on Monday eh?

    Getting a bit edgey here.

I know I won't be able to upload all my gens again I have that feeling.

I think I might just drop a days work and switch off Thursday evening and start Friday morning with the new client.

I would only get 0.5 for them anyway.

I forgot how bad sneaker net to dial-up sucks.
Alas poor Borg, I knew it Horatio

that is what i do fozz, i turn off all my online boxen a few hours before the shutdown for the switch. turn off DF and delete the old directory. then i wait for howard to post the new client on the DF ftp site, i grab it off there, make the changes to the folder (put my handle in, my service.cfg file, etc) and then copy it to my online boxen, reinstall the service (if i changed the directory name), restart the service with the new protein

for offline boxen, i try to dump them the day before. i just stop DF on the offline boxen, move the whole directory to my laptop or whatever box is going to upload the strucs, then after they are uploaded, i delete the folder. after the new protein is down, i reinstall it on my offline boxen

more work, but nearly bullet proof, i don't ever complain about protein switches, or autoupdate not working, i just do it my way!

Being the optimist that I am, I'm hoping for a smooth changeover. Now, will it happen? Time will tell.

What's the rule on late proteins? You get full credit for them for up to 48 hours after the switch?
