    We're off and running !!!

Here's the record of our starting point - Sunday 11-01-2003 in the P.M. (EST)

    FreeDC Rank: 30034., 0 LL Tests completed, 0 factors found, P90 CPU: 0.000 LL + 0.003 fact. = 0.003 Years total

I grabbed some factoring yesterday, the first result should be in by tonight. Perhaps it will help turn things around when some of those results start hitting. We're slipping only because of the people emerging from the enormous tie-for-last place - this will eventually stabilize and change direction.

    Smile An alternative FAQ

    Hi,

I have an alternative FAQ, which could use a bit of updating, but most of the Questions and Answers from the 6 first TPR perpetual threads at ars DCA are included.

    http://ws9.jobnegotiator.com/html/faqman/index.php

    Good luck with your team

As of 3:41pm EST, we look like this:

    FreeDC Rank: 30055., 0 LL Tests completed, 1 factors found, P90 CPU: 0.000 LL + 0.009 fact. = 0.009 Years total

moving further backwards, at least until some machines return results.

    Heretic,

Thanks! That's a great link and I encourage everyone to take a look - lots of information and pictures of big prime crunchers/pharms. Are you the "job negotiator"? Didn't recognize you behind those Foster Grants.

Glad to see FreeDC GIMPS team. Just join you with my P4 1.8 GHz. I took LL work. Looking forward to track this team's advancement in GIMPS. Exciting to be with you from the start.

/edit/ ermm.. I put in computer ID "work1". I didn't know it will be name I will be recognized with. Can I change it somehow?

Yes- you can edit it under Test==>User Information, and then you can force it to send your new info with Advanced==>Manual Communication and check Send Manual Completion dates...

If the Advanced Menu options are greyed out, enter Pasword==>9876

    Welcome aboard

    That's cool! Thanks.

BTW, Although I choose LL test, my Prime95 client now runs P-1 factoring. Is that OK?

I'm not 100% sure but IIRC the client has to do some P-1 factoring prior doing the LL test. So I'd say that's ok. Correct me if I'm wrong ...

  13. #13
Yes. It runs the P-1 factoring (one or two stages) in an attempt to find a "quick" factor before settling in to run the LL tests. This may take a couple of days, so be patient- the client is spending that time trying to avoid a couple of weeks in the LL testing phase.

Thanks for explaining me this. My client just complete 7.27% of stage 1 P-1 factoring.

For stats purposes someone ought to start collecting stats-files, maybe have a talk with the TPR stats guru for some pointer and possible the core of his code.

I can track progress, just depends on what exacly you want to track. If you just want to track rank movement it would be easy enough.

    This is fun

    FreeDC Rank: 12588., 4 LL Tests completed, 2 factors found, P90 CPU: 2.318 LL + 1.116 fact. = 3.434 Years total

What does the last column mean (see below) ?

    Code:
Account ID LL P90* Exponents Fact.P90 Exponents P90 CPU
CPU yrs LL Tested CPU yrs* w/ Factor hrs/day
    FreeDC 2.318 4 1.116 2 6016.05

If that is converted to CPU years, it's something like .687 CPU years/Day.

It will take a *really* long time to get into the top area of the charts

It's a shame that factoring years are not included in the rank

Factoring has it's own ranking so there are in effect two projects where you can watch your rank climb. You guys are about 1200 in the factoring ranks right now. The exact number is unavailable as the factoring stats are munged - the next hours update should fix it though.

The fun will start when you get to the top 100 in both categories. Then you guys can watch yourself in the TPR Top Producer stats here:

Sorry, garo, I was actualy referring to the DC Repository rankings for GIMPS. It only uses the LL p90 years to determine ranking. I was checking out those stats at TPR not too long ago though

It will take some time to reach the top 100, if we can. Some of the teams there have been crunching for years.

It will be a good battle just to reach the top 500. But what the heck - a week ago we didn't even have a Free-DC team in Gimps, today we moved half-way up the charts.

That last column is showing what primenet calculates to be our daily production in P90 CPU hours per day.

Hmmm. It appears that what he did was to:

1.) change the team starting date to when you established your account, and
2.) changed the team lead to your name.

There don't seem to be any stats for factoring, or LL testing that got moved over - it seems like all he really did was plug your name in as the team lead - prolly not really what you had in mind (or DID you? )

Well then, perhaps all of that got rolled in. I thought maybe some tens-or-hundreds-of-CPU-years got lost. I did notice a move from 5.x to 6.x CPU years, but figured it was due to someone returning a result.

At this point we're 7,618th place with 6.023 CPU years in LL, up about 23,000 places in the last couple of weeks

Going to throw a couple more Ghz on it.

I dropped a note to George this morning to see if I can get my old account rolled over as well. Looks like I had about 5.5 LL-Years accumulated from way back, if we can just get them moved.

Yup - we moved up over 25,000 places in that time.
I'm going to quit doing factoring, it doesn't seem to "count" for the repository, or for the team standings.

It looks like the best (fastest addition to the stats) thing to do is double checking.
