Thread: Elitism

    Elitism

I notice that the top islands tend to jump around a lot. Is there a provision for elitism? Or do you guys find that keeping good individuals around in simulations like this that have a huge solution space causes too little diversity?

Has the run plateaued or is it still progressing at a good rate?

There is elitism per island. However noise means sometimes some islands get lucky, and then others. I expect the real top fitness, ie. the one the best individual would get averaged over millions of trials, to be that which the bulk of the high fitness individuals have. Those ranked 10 to 20 +or-. Those above are getting lucky, they're surfing on top of the noise margin.

It is typical for circuit runs to plateau, this is not the end though since a next good individual might be found through a neutral network.
