    Experiments

OK, I've done a short experiment...let's see how it turns out...

I've run the client on a group of my work machines for a day to get an idea of what output I might be able to achieve if I really put my mind to it and to test the stability of the client itself. I've been uploading results for about 45 minutes across a pair of 2mb lines & a T1. I doubt I'll get them all up before the next stats run, and I have no idea how long it might take to credit them so we'll see what we get...

I hope howard ends the current slow protein soon so you can get some large scores racked up.

    er... speaking of scores !

Are the user 'Daily Score' graphs FUBAR ? They seem to be blank for everyone....

We did a similar experiment at Overclockers Australia, but decided 24 or 48 hours was too short a period with the current client/protein combination.

Instead we ran it for 7 days, each client on a no-net basis, and with all machines running at stock. It was part of an internal team competition. The second part will be with each participating PC overclocked. The 2nd part has however been deferred pending a more stable client.

Although it's not terribly scientific, it did show the extreme variability of the current client/protein when looked at with similar spec PCs.

If anyone is interested you can find the 1st week's results HERE

Just for info, you can ignore it if you wish

On your Arachnid stats, on the individual user pages. The "Daily Production" graph to the right of the "Hourly Production" graph.

    http://stats.zerothelement.com/cgi-b...iled.pl?Id=553
It seems to be this image is missing :
    Code:
    <img src="cd-graph-user-daily.pl?Id=553&amp;entries=20&amp;type=AREA" alt="Daily Production Graph" style="margin-top: 5px; ">
The space for the graph is there, and all the titles and headings, but no data.

I don't *think* it's my browsers, since it seems to be broken on both W98 and W2K home boxes and work boxes, and I can't have hosed all of them.

willy1 - you're not the only one not seeing anything for the daily production - there is a graph but nothing in it...for example, Dyyryath's daily production looks like:

OK, that's strange. I see it just fine on my systems. I'll try it from work and see if I can track down what's going on...

Dyy, I don't suppose those are PNG-format graphs by any chance, are they?

It seems to work fine in Mozilla for me, at least. I'm wondering if maybe it's an(other) IE bug with PNGs, since we all know how well IE (before IE6) handled PNGs with an alpha channel...

Based on that I can say IE 6 doesn't show the daily graph but Firebird does... so looks like something IE isn't doing properly...

I cannot see the daily graph for dFolding, but I can see them on FAH and Chessbrain. Safari on OSX.

I can see the daily graph on both IE6 on XP and Konqueror on Mandrake.

    IE 6.0.2800.1106 / Win2k
    Konqueror / Mandrake 9.2

Can't see the daily production graph on:

    IE 6.0.2800.1106 / WinXP
    Mozilla 1.4 / Mandrake 9.2

/edit - Chessbrain DP graphs are ok - just seems to be the DF ones...

Since nobody has mentioned it, I can see them fine on Opera/WinXP, as well as IE6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.someothernumbers (has all the recent updates AFAIK)

I have a sneaking suspicion that I know what it is, but I haven't had a chance to test/fix the issue yet. I think that it *is* a browser thing, but it's got to do with how the browsers handle POST info (and how I'm validating it) rather than the rendering of the PNG.

I noticed this only happens when the reference time zone is selected to be GMT (this is with IE6/WinXP). If set to any other time zone, the graph shows OK.

  23. #23
I also can't see my daily production graph with the timezone set to GMT. If I change it to a different timezone it works fine. Opera 7.21/WinXP.

I'm not sure if it is due to DF servers, but it seems that Dyyryath stats are 2 hours behind DF updates... Anyone else noticed that?
