    Please Help!

Ok, my DF client keeps shutting down and this is the warning I get:

[NULL_Caption] FATAL ERROR: [013.000] Cannot rename filelist.txt.tmp to filelist.txt. Hit enter.

I know this was covered a while back. I cannot find the thread. This machine is an XP 1800+ with XP professional. It has been running fine until 3 days ago when this started happening. I have even removed the client and reinstalled it with a new download. Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance

    What would Howard say...hmmm....

    1. You ran out of HD space.
    2. Your RAM is bad
    3. Are you OC'ing your machine?
    4. I've never seen this before
    5. We've covered this before...it's in the FAQ
    6. etc, etc, etc...

Sorry bro...other than being a wiseass...I'll bow to smarter people and the collective wisdom of FreeDC.

I feel saturated by it. I can taste your stink and every time I do, I fear that I've somehow been infected by it."

Yeah, well those would be important things to include. Its late and I'm being dumb.

I have 80 gig of free space on the HD.

RAM is fairly new and my CAD/CAM software runs fine on this machine. It eats all my RAM space when it is running. 512 meg of the 768 meg anyway.

    I am not overclocking.

Oh. Um, right. Sorry. Right before my very eyes.

Having done a forum search (little button on top row, one to the left of the right end) for filelist.txt.tmp, it looks like you're got the dreaded "We've never been able to duplicate that one" error.

What sounded like a good idea (to me, at least) was to search (there's that word again) the entire hard drive for this file (It got misplaced? How?) and stick it back where it belongs (in the DF folder). All very bizarre!

If no luck with that, post in Bug Reports & see if the crack (cracked? ) team can figure it out.

filelist.txt.tmp is still in the DF folder. It has not moved. It is just unable to overwrite it.

    Thanks.

    Oh.

Can you manually change it to filelist.txt? Is DF running as a user with enough permissions to change the file? If not, why? You should have all the permissions in the world. Is the client running under a different user?

Assuming this is a personal machine, you should give yourself Administrator priveleges by making yourself part of that group. If this is necessary and you don't know how, I can get to an XP box & work you through it. Let me know.

    Just maybe not tonight... :sleepy:

I tried manually changing it. It works but as soon as I fire the client back up, it changes it back.
