Dutch farmers do have a lot of cows on their farm

A lot of firepower! More than Ars! Nice recruitment...

I don't want to say that out loud, but within some time we will lose our #1-spot on DF Or did this stampede-thing already begin?

The gauntlet has not officially started yet, but we are in the up of the gauntlet arc (as I see things). This arc goes as follows:

    1. A week or so before the guntlet people start switching over when comfortable or they can (i.e. tight race in another project)
    2. 12-48 hours beforehand all of the home pharms are switched over to DF, allowing time to fix any errors (firewall issues, RAM, etc.)
    3. After the start of the gauntlet, people will borg like crazy for the next few days, slowly bringing the graph to level.
    4. when the gauntlet is around 75% done, one of two things happen:
    a. The subteam's lead is secure, firepower is slowly brought off of the project
    b. The subteam's lead is not secure, or the subteam has a chance to pass causing:
    i. Mad overclocks on machines
ii. a number of subteams members for only a week (a prolonged spike)
iii. people borging computers that may not have been worth it before
    5. After the conclusion of the gauntlet, during the next week, much of the power is brought off of DF (or whatever project it is on), and returned to its home project. At the same time, some extra power stays (this is more true for larger teams, i.e. Ars, DPC, Anand)

So we are inbetween 1 and 2, moving toward 2 rather quickly.

And, if they threaten us too badly, I have 4-5Ghz I can pull to DF.

the protein change tomorrow is likely to knock out some of them, then they'll get pissed off and say the client stinks and go back to XYZ project

Why do you think the stampede begins at the 14th ??

All crunchers allready know about the change
In a special topic this is dealth with, configure options are discussed, and people have been informed to make sure they check their clients.

You'd almost think these DPC guys have done this distributed computing thing before, eh?

    Fantastic job so far, guys!

So, my previous prediction that the DPC could end up on the podium looks solid, barring an even slower protein tomorrow. And, for all I care, Mobster, your "calves" are welcome to kick around here all they like, as long as they're well-behaved like the rest of the herd.

When it was 60 vs 286, we were holding our own, but now that you've increased to 348 (nearly one-fifth of all active users - great job DPC!), and we've dropped to 54 active, that's a pretty overwhelming margin. We'll see you on the podium...soon.

Fobot: STFU! WE don't need any depressing talk right now. We have a large lead, and have a number of cruncherswho are off doing off other things, but will come back if needed (like myself).

It is no where near over. The DPC can go mooooooo for all I care, I have yet to see anything that warrants my attention within the timeframe assumed. The DPC can let the milk curdle in their udders for all I care!

    LOL@FoBoT

You guys are so far ahead, in this pace we won't catch you until christmas.
So don't worry just enjoy the things we do. After we hit the #3 spot, it's a loooong way up so all we can do it is e.g. try to do 100M a day or so to keep everyone interested.

But, i must agree, we are doing a hell of a lot better than I initially expected. I personally hoped for 20M/day...

Ars production is troubling, not the cows. if the cows choose to keep these numbers for the whole year, we can't stop them. if they get tired and move to XYZ project, then we'll start regaining our lead on them

the Ars dudes finally are getting close to our weekly numbers, that is bad
