The errors we are seeing are 100 % the fault of the project team.
I checked my logs carefully and there is one entry which says wrong protein.
This is between 100's of 910 errors and I didn't spot it immediately.
Since I most certainly am not folding the wrong protein it must mean that somebody was messing with the servers earlier today.

I truly am sorry if sounded like I blamed the folders. My intention was merely to point out that some people are very quick to try to mess with client files, deleting receipt.txt, alter filelist.txt and possibly deleting alot of generations.
Granted - the project as a whole is certainly not in it's finest hour, but I personally still have patience left. I respect the people who wanna take their cycles elsewhere, but I'm here to stay.

Mighty, You didn't got the point.....
The problem was set up by the staff who released the new client before weekend and then left for weekend.
Some of my boxen make a set per day and if I see that I'm producing more gens a day than I can upload I'm just wondering.
The last week I lost tons of gens and loosing seven sets on one single machine is not that easy to me.
And no word from the staff.....
got the new package..installed to 6 Directories..1 is cruising with no errors..guess what the others are doing
I am not a Stats Ho, it is just more satisfying to see that my numbers are better than yours.
The new package won't help if the servers are ill....
Cool, I even have a "STATUS 906: GENERIC STRUCTURE ERROR" amongst the hundreds of 910s and dozen 908s.

What is funny about this is I can still force the uploads........so if they are uploading even with the 910 error....will they count?.....or are they just evaporating?
BTW this is my first post.........Reading this really got to me.
By just keep using the upload option......it will take anywhere from 2 sets to 10 before it stops and I hit upload again.........same thing....over and over

tried a clean install and I can upload gen 0 and 1 but then start getting 910 errors - definately a server issue (as we all know)...oh well, offline Folding it is...
I have had the 910 error in the past from other clients and it would always halt saying something about corruption in the filelist or something to that effect and to delete it.......but it would not upload.
Are we for sure these are not going to count?
If anything else I guess the junk is atleast on their servers and not mine...........grrrrr

So after getting rid of the junk files......I cleaned up the client....I did not reinstall but, just deleted the filelist........Started the system back up online as normal. Checked it after it ran for about 3 hours. It had never tried to upload that I could tell. No tickets or receipts......and no 910 errors. I stopped the system and uploaded the 15 or so sets that were cached. It uploaded as normal. I restarted the client and double checked the error log........0 errors and no receipts were found.
I installed the UPDATED (let's fob another beta on us) client, and I"m STILL getting 910's.

For the time being, we at OCW are hanging up the white flag. 910's with buffered files, 910's after about gen 6 with the updated Client. We have lost over 50 million points with just 5 or 6 Folders..imagine if we added up all Team Members. Corrupting the Buffered Gens by altering the Servers last night was the last straw for many who were continuinng on the basis that their buffered gens were uploading 5 a day and still valid. Now to see them all suddenly corrupted wheb they wake up today
We hope this is all fixable, but if OCW returns, I imagine it will be a vastly reduced and weary bunch of Folders

I have been watching the system upload each generation it has built since generation 14.........It is on generation 20 as I type this with nothing buffered.....I guess the server load has really dropped.........0 errors and 0 receipts still.

There is no solution but to stop. I have Boxen on the original Client Online, Original Offline, Updated Online and Updated Offline. All methods give the same result..910. All scientific projects tend to hit snags, the trick is to have a long pole and the skills to back paddle when required. Things will be easier for sure as 50% of contributors are gone, the load is halved..in fact it may be the only way to save the project by returning to lower production rates that are managable until more resources are available to cope with higher production rates.
But this Client DOES NOT WORK RELIABLY. The easiest solution is to cancel points until it is fixed and call this an Emergency Beta Period. All Folders Contribute for the sake of fixing it rather than whimpering over lost points

I'm experimenting still. I am distressed that a client with multiple sets buffered can get 910s at the start of a new set if the previous set was screwed as that has lost me untold numbers of units. HOWEVER, I had a whole lot of clients started from scratch with connect=0 and am trying to upload one of them as we speak. The first 18 gens have gone up without error so :fingerscrossed:

And reacting to your question; I posted mij error.log to make it possible for everybody to analyze it; for instance "where does the 908 error come from when a previous gen of the same protein did get accepted".
At this moment I am looking around for a project to do in the time Elena and others get the problem fixed. Will be back after that (DPC must be #1 in this year)

I have done the same but find that after 5-20 gens the 910 errors start appearing...also noticed a few other quirks which makes me think the ticket system is now too fast and not being able to find gens that were just upload and responding with a 910 thus wiping out that set...Originally posted by HaloJones

Hopefully the DF team can sort something out - but the likelihood of seeing the gens from yesterday is minimal (based on the info they have provided)...
The thing that really aggravates the **** out of me is the projects attitude towards the crunchers.
I have read all of the posts for the last week and I must say that there has been an enormous lack of information. There have been quite rude responses from the administration and attempts to blame crunchers for all the errors and so on...
I cannot believe that someone from the administration still hasn't taken the opportunity to say sorry for the errors and the complete disregard of the crunchers efforts. Give the crunchers an explanation!
And yes - I know - blame it on tiny project resources... But sometime information is more valuable than attempts to fix things while hoping that no one noticed any errors.
The client that is uploading has reached 88 gens up and no 910s so far. It's crunching normally and uploading when it can. I'm not forcing anything through. It will go to off-line crunching again in an hour so I'll be able to make a call at that point but so far it seems OK.
OK, some people are still able to Fold and Upload..if you are having no errors, are you using the older Client or the one Howard & Elena posted this morning. I suspect the original may have lost all the buffered work but is reliable now

I'm running the original "new" client not the "amended" new client.
got home to find the logs full of the silly 910 errrors. downloaded the new package ( 28/4 11:00am timestamp on the exe ) and have it coming onstream now.
no errors in the log sofar.
no huge buffered generations. only one or two sitting there at any time.
pity about the first few thousand i had to toast. going to watch this one for a day or two befor i go farming again.

I've been watching my clients all degenerate into getting 910 results... It didn't all happen at once, which leads me to believe that they didn't make whatever change that started the chain of 910 errors to all the servers at once... Only to a few... But eventually, all my systems uploaded to one of the fubar'ed systems, so they got 910'd.... So, now none of my systems are producing points.
I'll continue to start fresh and test... I'm not one to whine and run off. I believe in this project and I intend to CARRY ON FOLDING...
Howard and Elana... Take a deep breath or two and ignore all the negative emotion. If you're running on empty, go home and get some rest. Things will look more clear when you're recharged.

got about two hours of error free runing now. error logs clean and no undue buffering.
no. the cooling of the farm is no problem - especially in winter! although sometimes during a really warm summer season we do get a really nasty lizard infestation.
Started getting 910s on the client that was uploading fine. Came out of the blue. For a system that is supposed to stop this happening, it's doing a lousy job.
I'm giving up uploading and only running off-line. Hopefully they'll identify the problem soon.
Missed one of mine when I move them all offline and this is the log (was a complete new install)...

Welll. after 3 hours of undisturbed running with the latest downloadables the sillly 910 errors are back. is this some sort of Canadian humor that the rest of us dont get?
