    OGR News

Here is bovine's plan entry regarding OGR projects:

    :: 09-May-2004 14:10 GMT (Sunday) ::
As some people may have noticed, the percentage complete for phase 1
of OGR25 will soon be approaching 100%. Within the next week or so,
we will be halting "OGR classic" (for both OGR24 and OGR25) and
    launching OGRp2 (phase 2 of both OGR24 and OGR25).

The second phase of the project will continue searching of the
left-over stubs that were intentionally excluded from the original
"OGR classic" search-space, due to original concerns about having
enough network capacity to efficiently handle the large numbers
extremely small stubs. OGRp2 addresses this issue by instructing each
client to search the many "micro"-stubs that exist within a large
stub-range and return the combined search as a single result. It is
expected that OGRp2 should take less time to complete than "OGR
    classic" did for phase 1.

Due to the nature of this new search logic, new clients and proxies
will be needed in order to participate in OGRp2. Once "OGR classic"
is shut off, any old clients will only participate in RC5-72 if that
project has been left enabled on your client, otherwise your old
clients will shutdown and go idle.

Client version 2.9008-490 is the minimum version that will support
OGRp2. Personal Proxy build 341 is the minimum that will support the
OGRp2 project. Updated client and proxy binaries will become
available on the pre-release page for experienced users who wish to
help by becoming early testers of OGRp2. Please report any issues you
discover with the client and proxy in our bugzilla database.
Depending on the severity of any possible problems discovered in the
pre-release binaries, it may be necessary to discard these early OGRp2
results however we are not expecting that to occur.

Formal project announcement, stats availability, general release of
clients/proxies will occur after a few days of pre-release testing on
these new binaries has elapsed and we are satisfied that there are no
    blocking issues.

Sounds good to me. That should round off both OGR-24 and 25 before we start anything else.

Yeah, it sounds good to me, too. It seems that this will be considered as separate project (OGRp2) with it's own stats.

Yes it will be concidered a "seperate" project. I've already started the new OGR stubs already.

    Done,

it's loading up on p2 stubs right now.

Want to switch and test it ?

It might take some time to fix those ppstats to handle a new project though....

Latest proxies and clients can be obtained here:
    http://www1.distributed.net//download/prerelease.php
note: build 341 is the proxy release and v2.9008.490 is the client release

    Bok's keyserver:
    stats.open-dc.org

You should not need to join the team at all if you were already participating in OGR or RC5. Userid numbers are identical for each user across all sub projects of distributed.net (as long as you use the same e-mail address). As bok mentioned, the 3rd party proxie stats will have to be modifyed to provide stats for incomming completed stubs. We will not be able to provide official 3rd party stats (oximoron) for tracking until distributed.net makes them available to the public. As stated they will do this upon sufficient testing of the new OGR stubs.

    IB,

post the exact error message and we can probably symlink it in to get it working.

edit... I see you have. Try this first

    locate ld-uClibc.so.0

if that fails it might be because the 'locate' is not up to date

    so then try

    cd /

    find . -name ld-uClibc.so.0

if it's there it might be in a directory not in your ldconfig path and we can fix that

    Ok,

    so this should work then

    cd /lib

    ln -s /usr/i386-linux-uclibc/lib/ld-uClibc.so.0 ld-uClibc.so.0

    Give it a shot!

libc.so.6 was linked to libc.so.2 or something like that.
So I downloaded libc RPM file, did rpm -i -f
said it was already installed, it wasn't
conflicted with libc something 14, so got that rpm package,
    same problem,
    deleted /lib/libc.so.6

tried again, nope, checked the other one located in ?/i586/libc.so.6

    deleted that libc.so.6

    did an ls

    can't load shared libriaries.

    I'm hosed

shoulda just had ya go onto the server and just fix it
I guess stats.dbestern.net will be fubar, cause I don't know what to do know, cept maybe go get Mandrake 10 down at the store and try an update.
Else, it may not be up for awhile.

I am not going to shut it off, just in case someone can save my bacon.

If it's up and running I'll jump on and see what I can do.

*edit* Can't get on, it needs those libraries for ssh. Do you have another mandrake box, you could copy them in from ?

Or does anyone else have a mandrake setup and could tar/gzip that directory up to at least get us going again?

    Actually IB,

not sure if you can still get email, but I just sent you one anyway

I can ftp in and have placed a copy of

    libc-2.3.2.so

in my home directory on your server

rename it to be libc.so.6 and then copy it into /lib

That might give us a fighting chance of revival

    Nope couldn't do it,
root doesn't allow access from remote, so I couldn't ftp it to where it needed to go either.

The whole computer just went fubar, so I shut it off.

    Thanks for trying!

I'll upgrade to Mandrake 10 tomorrow evening when I get home from work and do a complete upgrade

    Got your email alright tho.

My mail server is on winblows, where I can handle it, so no affect there
