    Designating tasks to each CPU

I'm about to receive new opteron CPU's, and i'd like to know if i was running per say 1 TSC and 1 D20L. Will the OS(XP PRO) automatically send one to one CPU and the other to the second CPU, or will i have to designate them, if so how?

    Thanks for any help!

Windows has a problem with keeping tasks running on a single CPU, by default. It likes to proc-hop, as the term suggests. There is a way though. Start up the processes, and go into the task manager. Right click on the process, and select 'Set CPU Affinity'. Select a processor, and you're done.

Back in the heyday of S@H, this was found to have a negligible impact on the processing times, so just note that it might not help. *nix folks don't need to do this, because the OS can handle it easily
