    Outstanding Team Effort

I think I recall someone from Ars saying we could not put up enough fire power on D2OL to to hold them off once we passed them and not suffer in other projects. I figured I'd take a look and see just how things are going since we passed them and are continiously pounding them in the ground.

    Note: these are daily numbers...

    4th DPAD
    5th Find-A-Drug
    2nd D2OL
    11th distributed.net OGR-25
    4th 17 or Bust
    2nd Chessbrain
27th Folding@Home (very large jump in production in the past week)

To tell you the truth I'm a bit amazed at how well Free-DC is doing, considering how scattered around we are at the moment. We are spread thin, but doing all the right things. The teams has acquired some great new members in the recent months that can take a good portion of credit for these results. Not to overlook the big time crunchers....we all know they are completely amazing, but it's also the small guys that can help in the biggest way. We do not have the luxury of having thousands of faceless members like Ars or DPC, but we sure can fray with the largest of foes.

In the 3 years of being with the team I've seen many come and go, but I think right now we have a really great thing going on. Thanks to Ironbits for being such a great role model to the team. He's not even suppose to be touching computers any more, but he makes time to keep up with all the new faces of the team and participate in the projects still. I know he likes stats...but I think he just can't bare to be without us . Also, a big thanks to Bok for working relentlessly on the stats we all enjoy so much. Thank you to all who make Free-DC such a great team to crunch with....and better yet a great place to have friends. Happy new years to you all!

You're right, we don't really have the vast numbers of faceless, anonymous crunchers that some of the big teams have. Free-DC is not the kind of team where people just install the client and forget about it. I think it's our active forums that keep people interested. Plus we have just the right mix of giants and small crunchers to keep the team interesting.

Agent Smith was right!: "I hate this place. This zoo. This prison. This reality, whatever you want to call it, I can't stand it any longer. It's the smell! If there is such a thing. I feel saturated by it. I can taste your stink and every time I do, I fear that I've somehow been infected by it."

Maybe I'm going to sound cheeky, but I'm going to request that anybody with an hour of spare time(actually, more like a half-hour), and an Athlon or better run Find-a-Drug for awhile(anywhere from a week to two months). I don't remember where the post is on this site, but Sharder8 posted an annoying,"You'll catch up in 11+ years if we don't add power..."

Maybe cutting down the catch-up time to 2-3 years will make them sit up and take notice.

I was going to post some advice here(actually wrote about a page worth), then realized the off-topic might P somebody O.

I'm going to check if the local forum has advice.

Agreed, Magnavox. We kind of agreed that we weren't all going to the same project, because we are Free-DC. We wandered off to whatever project or projects looked fun. And, we're doing pretty well!

We've still got our friendly and entertaining fora, we've still got big and little crunchers, and, best of all, we still have fun together.

I was a little worried there after DF suspended. Now, I'm not worried at all, and it has been a blast blowing up the rankings in F@H.

Thanks to all, especially the folks who do the work around here.
