Same here. We could also lose it, but some time after you do. I will keep eyes open on your location and decide whether to 'run for da hills' or not based on what you get. Most likely, we will just lose a few telephone poles (power, dsl, cable, etc...... you know, nothing major.... LOL).

Hope you fair well through the storm. I have family out on the Cape and more right in V.B. We're all hoping for a more 'easterly route'

Take care of yourself & fam.

Strange that there's no forum thread for this challenge, like there has been in the past? I assume it is still on? I'm starting 14 cores on PPS LLR, assuming that it is.

Edit: Sorry, there is a thread, it just wasn't linked from the Challenges Page.

I cranked up what I could but it is still too hot for me to run everything.
An hour and a half into the challenge and we're at 26.
The servers seem to be taking a beating though.

I believe the 'Dogs' have gotten to the PG server which sits idle with no more 'resend WU' allowed (based on its config) as the '_0' was also recrunched as a '_1' which stops it from going any further. So the 'Dog Days of Summer' have gone to the 'dogs' ? The transitioner, validator, and a whole bunch of other BOINC internal services are turned off due to earlier load. Is this not a repeat of one a few years ago? Perhaps a reschedule is due? Anyone's thoughts?

Update: PG claims to be back on with fresh WUs, but I still get _1 WUs sent to me. Is a 'reschedule' due in light of the huge problems which occurred and was out of their control in any way?

If this is so a lot of my WU's will not count in if they are clocked in at 2 to 3 day to run

    WoW I made a total of 7 points for 96 2.5 ghz cores running for 24 hr's

Validation is usually switched off, so don't look at that as the scores for the challenge. They are counted separate...

if off, then how did they end up in the 'pending' queue ???? i know full validation is off, but basic is on, otherwise boinc could be cheated during one of these

I'm not aware of any basic versus full validation. Pending is a standard boinc function where a wu goes into prior to validation. What they do at primegrid for challenges is separate from their validaion. As long as they don't go into error (which is client side) they get counted for the challenge. So you need to look at the challenge scores rather than the main scores to see what you have. Though they seem to be broken too at the moment!

Well it's over. It was a pretty disappointing challenge without the stats. It could be a while before we even know how we did.

    Ya Me Too
I can not figure out why they gave out WU's in a 2 day challenge that run for 80+ hrs
ALL my nodes are still working on the first WU's I got Friday
And I suspended about 12.000 hrs of WU's not started
I only have 0.50 set for a work buffer

I'm completely disappointed. This should be rescheduled and done again. They had internal problems (which we know happen from time to time) that completely invalidated the science portion. Resending WUs already crunched or WUs from other sub-projects also was not cool, nor was losing WUs and having me 'recrunch' them was not good. I requested, on their board, given the problems which were beyond their control or ability to correct that staff, admins, and management consider a complete 'resched' from lessons learned.
Now, to get back to normal would be nice. It's going to take me a few days to recover and that means a HUGE loss of productivity.

I would consider this one very much a wreck.

I don't know what the final stats will show, but given the WU outage, I'm 'ok' with it. It could have been better and we all should raise a to Lennart who managed to keep it going in spite of the problems!!!

In the interest of science, I would love to see it rescheduled when the and are out of the boxen.

Still, of the 5 I see in the current stats... I just missed getting in under the '500' mark. 'snot to bad, eh?

Looks like overall we took 30th place. Not too bad considering there were only 5 of us.

The next one starts on 23 Sept and runs for 13 days. Maybe we'll get a little more help then.

Anybody going to help out with the next challenge that starts Friday and runs for 13 days?
It uses the Woodall (WOO) LLR application and the WUs are monsters. At least thirty hours to complete.

I have a good LLR machine on Linux to run it..... Please pm/email me if you have any specific instructions about settings. In anticipation, I will start clearing out the queue.

I've got 16 cores chugging on it. The slowest of them will only complete one WU every 9 days. The fastest claims it will take 70 hrs per WU. We'll see.

This one's really a "set it and forget it" challenge. There won't even be any stats to see until tomorrow. I keep checking BOINC out of habit, but it's just "2 hours out of 100 elapsed..." Right. I guess I should get back to work. A watched pot never boils!

I flushed some completed WUs and jumped up to #92. But now it will be at least a couple more days before I produce anythings else... A big factor in this challenge will be how many WUs you can finish on the last day...

lol my old x3 720 (3.2 Ghz) 40+ hours on a unit and beats my quad 6600 (3.2 Ghz)with ease with 55+ hours
Funny is that most units start with a estimate of 70+ hours on the amd but end much faster
While the q6600 estimates at start 50+ hours and ends more near the 60 hours

You guys have too much machines, and too powerfull ones
Poor little me can't keep up, and suddenly not getting new woodall units on one machine.
I have to look into it why it does not get me some, setting it to 10 days work cache did not solve it.
And i allready killed the boinc debts as well, but the most weird is that it only happens on primegrid all other projects just do function normal

lol such weirdness suddenly got for 10 more days work, i forgot to set it back to 2 days work
Has any of you a clue why i do not see points awarded for the challenge while i finished some more units.
My rank keeps dropping for several days, even though minimal 4 or 5 units got finsihed and validated
On the boinc credits all seem fine and added normally

I thought it would be the other way around. They often switch off the validator whilst running the challenges, so you get points for the challenge, but the BOINC points come later..

Well yes thats what i was reading but even though i got enough units finished i only saw myself drop on the ranks even though i was in front of you at the begin.
Since that day it went from 193 downwards to 260+ non of the newly finished units has been added to the challenge while the boinc points keep coming in.
Yesterday for instance i got another 3 units rewarded but nothing added again on the challenge.
Ofcourse i know not to be a fast cruncher but when units got finished you expect to see change
Within 3 hours another freaking long unit will end after about 70 hours on the q6600.

I've got three WUs that should finish in a couple more hours, and eight more that should finish in a couple more days. Then that'll be it for me. All the rest won't meet the contest deadline.

Here in California our first storm of the season is moving in, bringing the first rain we've seen since June. As the temperature drops I might bring my GPU rig back out of the closet. I definitely will do for the Winter Solstice PPS Sieve Challenge, at the very least.
