Doing about 2.73 per second now with w2k and some BIOS tweakage!
Angus, you bastard!
Just for that, I fixed the above SLOW box, and slapped 3 more XP2100s online
Now if NewEgg.com would only ship both XP2800 Bartons
If the box is running Windows 98, you get almost nothing for your crunching

Het IB, run that by me again. Did you see an almost 3x increase by doing no more than changing OS? You think that '98 runs significantly slower than 2k in an essentially dedicated environment? I have a handful of '98 machines that might benefit from that knowledge.
Last time I bothered to check, I didn't notice much difference though. I run all Windows boxes; '98, NT4, 2k, and XP. When I have somewhat equal machines that aren't performing equally, I usually either find that some spyware, or other background nonsense has crept in, or I chalk it up to differences in memory bandwidth....
I'm interested in just what your before/after envs. looked like.
Don't Panic
I broke 3 mil per day, 3 updates in a row
TheOtherZaphod,
fresh install of win98 -- updates from M$, less than 1 per second
fresh install of w2k 2.73 -- no other changes.
This morning I am going to apply SP3 to see if there is any differences...
update: no differences that I can see...

My ramp up, started on Jan 24th. More to follow this coming week-end
A very nice bump in output!

Let's not make too much racket tho, I wouldn't want to stir the beast!

Good to see you are alive tho!
That's right, xj10bt old buddy...IB's been running around talking smack about you all over town!
I'm honestly surprised you've let it go on this long.

I'm not really too worried just yet....when his overtake date for me is sometime *this year* I'll start to look over my shoulder just a bit...probably as I start introducing a small group of fast work machines to the DF client.
It's good to see that slackard actually doing something for a change, though.
Slacktard? Slacktard?! U talkin to me?!
Gonna force you to finally break out the BIG IRON, albeit rusty!!!
Yo Condor, keep an eye on him... he's sneaky I tell ya!
Fortunately for me, Dyy has some first rate stats that should provide me with ample warning.
I am starting to wonder about these "work machines " that everyone lives in fear of.
Are these for real <nudge nudge> or is he just <nudge nudge> blowing smoke.
I see xj10bt is crunching the DF beta !
should have my beastie back in tonight
