The Mystery Man...
Error starting new client
Just did download of new client. It hung trying to contact the server after the download. I pressed ENTER as directed, edited foldit.bat, set options to -if and restarted it. It won't run - gives me:
The instruction at 0x0044238b referenced memory at 0x0000000c
The memory could not be "read"

It won't run, except offline, until it can connect with the mother ship.

I had the same error, but I think we are somehow a little premature, because right now it once again tells me "server down for update" so perhaps we got a wrong "sneak preview" :-)

same here - it conected, downloaded the new client, uploaded the buffered results then did 1 pass of a 96 protein (the updated email says it will be a 127) then crashes...gone back to the old client (from another boxen) and running all PCs offline...

It started ok, we'll see if I have problems after one pass through the 96 set of structures.

Our apologies,
The new client became available a little earlier than it was supposed to. I guess it affected a few quick and eager people
Things were back to normal around 6:30 PM EST in case you are wondering.

Any chance of having the correct version pushed out again for those who caught the bad initial auto-update ???
The problem caused by the "early update" are pusing many of the Free-DC team to the edge of dropping, and moving on to something else....
