D2OL is pretty good on slower machines but it needs around 80Mb ram.
I think Find-A-Drug might be pretty good on those too.

Hi everybody,
I have 40 pentium 1ghz and 80 pentium 600mhz.
Before, I ran DF project on them, but this project was finish for the moment.
Which project is the best for slow machines ?
I prefer humaine, medical or environment project.
F@H is too hard for these machines.
I think than Climate Prediction is too long for them.
I don't know for find-a-drug and D2OL.
Have a nice day.
Bonne journée.
Beth133.
Medical projects, yes.
Maths projects, maybe.
Alien projects, No.

You can try DPAD, SOB, DNET.
***EDITED****
I don't recommend using DPAD under Win 95/98/Me because you will have problems when shutting down the computer.
SOB: we need help there, Team Norway is closing fast
DNET-RC-72: We need help to get into the TOP100
DNET-OGR-P2: We need help to get into TOP50

Have D2OL on 4 - 1 GHz boxen now. Probably about 40 candidates/day each. Think that's the slowest I've run that on.
Most of the slower ones run UD Grid which I really like because it stays out of the way better. Ran that on a P200 with 64MB before. Probably want to specify cancer as the new folding project may be too much for them. Windows only though
I'm going to go way off from the suggestions that you have had... you have older pentiums, so the bulk of the stuff is hard for them to do because of the length of time it takes to process a unit. This includes sob also.
I would suggest putting linux on the two boxes, and running EON. The units aren't that long. Eon runs great under linux, and those two boxes you mention would handle eon just fine. You can just leve them running full time, and those points will rack up. Bok and I have been running this on and off for quite some time, and there is a Free-DC team. The only real bummer is that it requires a full time internet connection. Either myself or Bok would be more than happy to help you with getting linux running on them if you should decide to run Eon.
And I would recommend this to everyone that has old pentiums, or amd K6's as it is a good project for them. Eon is a *TOTAL* dog under windows.
runs sweet on these types of machines, my best scoring WUs have come from P3 boxen.
You may wait for the wu to finish but the end result has good hits and good points.
And its a BIO project too.
Also the setup is easy especially as you have Internet accessibility to each of the boxen.
Allez les Boxen.

D2OL needs about 80mb, so if they have 128mb or more then they should run OK.
It would be a pleasure to have you join us in D2OL and help narrow the gap to AT and DPC.
joseph_arthur,
Lifemapper is a good project for slow machines.

I see you are testing EON. Don't forget to join FreeDC.
Linux client is 5x faster than the windows one.

I need opinions on the Folding project. Do people think it's worthwhile? I was going to reject it without looking because of the sucky client they use for the cancer, smallpox, etc. research, but if you can turn that off than I'm interested again.Originally posted by ronbo54
